Hi! I’m a Brass Ovaries Studio (Austin) student, but have many pole buddies in the Hou/Gal area. I’ve met & seen Jackie perform, but haven’t tried the studio yet. My friend April teaches pole fit at Verticality. It’s fairly new so not sure what kind of intermediate/adv classes they have, but heard good about beginner levels. Also, there is SassyKat pole inside Transform Me fitness/Body by Francis (in Webster area?) I know an awesome lady named Martha who teaches there. Kara’s pole studio in Seabrook/baycliff area (located upstairs from Xtacy Boutique) has a variety of classes & offers Lyra (hoop) She is a badass on that pole & her students advance & get strong pretty quickly. Also, brand new studio Zensual Dance opening in fitness “studio 85” in Galveston this month. My friend Gina is co-owner & will instruct there. She’s a wonderful person & gave me my first pole lesson ever, one year ago (a private at her house) Lots of options! But BY ALL MEANS, come to Austin at least once, to Brass Ovaries Pole Dancing Studio. Best in Texas, imo. It is where my friends train & are instructors. An allstar lineup, & please Google them: Brynn Route (Miss Texas Pole Star ((MTPS)) Ultimate Champion 2011) Lindsey Dement (MTPS Miss Fitness Champ 2011) Ariel Jacobs (ALETHEA AUSTIN’s amazing little sister) Sarah Marsh “Sarah Sparkles” (MTPS ultimate champion runner up 2010) Miss Sophie, a prominent Pole, Aerial Hoop & Burlesque performer at Austin Events & more. Owned by badass Miss Natasha. Pantera Blacksmith, Natasha Wang, Badazz, Felix Cane & Alethea, visit & teach here whenever in town. Alethea Austin & Cleo the Hurricane from Bobbi’s in Australia are teaching workshops in April at Brass Ovaries also 🙂 Hope to run into you ladies in Houston some time!!!

I think I want to do both…Definitly the pole jam if I only do one, it will be good to get out and meet more of the pole community.

Oh yeah I hope to make it to Brass Ovaries, and all the TX studios I can!! I definitly want to do the Alethea/Cleo workshop..Is it April or May?? I don't care of I feel out of it I would just like to be around that energy. We do have a lot of options here..some places aren't easy to get to regulary..I want to check out Kara's on a weekend sometime. I have been into pole for 3 years and have seen Houston go from just S factor to what it is now..just sucks I have been so broke lol..but I love to pole!

Alethea’a offering 2 workshops & Cleo also has 2. They fill up Far in advance though. Exact dates & details on the website http://www.Brass-Ovaries.com or (512) 477-POLE (-7653)
Groupon deals are always great to save $ on pole. I’m fortunate to have taken advantage of a year membership at Brass Ovaries. For $83 a month I can take Unlimited classes. & I mean unlimited! In one week I sometimes hit 4 to 9 classes. Pole tricks level classes 1 thru 5, pole choreography, sexy flow, flexibility & stretching, high heel fitness (pole chair & floorwork in heels), polefit, aerial hoop, open hoop or pole practices (open pole is only $10 an hour for drop ins or to Pre register for a spot) I’m sure at $83 a month, I sometimes end up taking classes for $2 a pop! 🙂 -
I've heard great things about Kara from Nicki Shaw and even more great things about Brass Ovaries from Skittles and Karol Helms. Hopefully a couple of us can do a road trip and visit Brass Ovaries one day or weekend for pole fun! Thanks for the insight.

Yeah Nikki did a workshop there. Kara's is like an hr from me. The girls at Twisted Fit in Spring where really good at Melee on the Bayou. I bought a groupn or some type of discount thing…another weekend deal though because they are also about an hr away! Houston is just so damn big!! 🙂

Ok just signed up for the Pole Jam at Verticality. I am not doing a workshop…unless it's last minute and I can sign up the day of..That is when I get paid next.
-
Good. I'll do the same. The jam on Saturday… Got it.
-
Glaminatrix-I live in the museum district and consider myself intermediate to advanced. I would love to pole jam! I have a pole but get bored by myself…the only issue is I can't host cuz my bf works out of the house. I can meet up though!
-
I've spent all weekend away from the computer and get back in tonight and realize I didn't sign up! Uh oh! No discount?!? But, lucky for me they had an April Fool's special that extended the discount pricing. Yes! I paid and signed up and am looking forward to doing something even further out of my comfort zone and meeting more polers.

Gypsy013 Do you take classes anywhere? Awesome Hyperhorsegirl!! 🙂
-
Yes-Polelateaz. You and I are connected on FB….I will send you a msg. I am unsure if i can attend the pole jam next week but want to!

Has anyone *heard* of Alethea and Cleo coming here?? What about Jamilla??
-
Alethea & Cleo are coming to Austin for my friend’s graduation. They’re teaching 2 workshops each at Brass Ovaries. May 20 & 21st. Alethea’s pure pole was already full, but today we just added a 2nd pure pole workshop for May 20th at 4pm, due to high demand & Alethea being gracious to accommodate us. Go to http://www.Brass-Ovaries.com or call (512) 477-7653 if you want to reserve a spot! 🙂

It’s worth the 3 hr drive 🙂 We get girls from Dallas & Hou & San Antonio all the time coming in for girls’ weekends. I also make the drive to Dallas or Hou & Galveston whenever possible for concerts & special pole events…but I’m a total pole addict 🙂

Just reserved a spot in the afternoon Pure Pole. Alethea is worth the trip, plus I've never been to Austin before. Can't wait!

It's not worth it to me. I can't afford (neither time, or money) to travel that far out of Houston. My family lives four hours away. If I was going to spend that much time in the car, I'd rather see my family. I only visit about four or five times a year as I don't have the time for anything more. I'll stick to things in Houston. If they ever come to Houston (which was the original question, I believe), then I would consider something. It might be worth it to you, but it's not to me.
-
Alethea will be at Verticality in Houston, on May 24th. Check the Verticality studio website 🙂
-
I would love and hope to travel and pole more. Workin on that now..but it will still be a little longer. I think the scene here is getting big enough for more workshops so I hope we get as much as Dallas/Austin.. I just saw Kara's, but I will now check verticality too..I think Kara just said Cleo..I couldn't figure out how to purchase yet so I think it's just the announcement for now.
-
Definitely call Verticality. It was posted on Alethea’s website….yes, I just saw that Cleo is at Kara’s studio on May 17 & 18? Hope you all get to go!!! I just saw that Badazz is coming to Brass Ovaries too 🙂
