Another note: the ring is not that noticable, and if you put you pole back up, it will cover the ring so it's not that big of a deal. You can only see it at certain angles in the light.

Thanks Sensualscimitar for the heads up regarding the vinyl. I expect to do some damage to th floor between heels, doggie nails and doggie pens. I am shopping for the strongest vinyl surface I can afford but am also getting a darker color since it will be taking a lot of abuse. I hope things were ok with the ring on the vinyl since you were renting.

Pegasusaerialfitness, you are an angel. Thank you so very much! The metal strip is the J-mold. Well I spent all morning and day with my Mom in the emergency room. She has vertigo/flu and dehydrated. They did all their diagnostic and sent her back with prescriptions. She is vacationing and wow what an awful vacation for her. While I was waiting for her prescriptions to fill I went and bought the J-mold and wood screws.

I have studfinders, levels (magentic one for pole), drywall anchors, wood screws for the studs… even safety glasses that I never wear. I have a drill that makes these tasks easier. I did not know about the drilling down trick… thank you! I was really nervous but then I realized the mirror is only 35 pounds. I do not want tape or mastic all over my walls so am going to do J-mold anchored into studs and clips to hold it on the top.

Thank you again so much for your help and the detailed post. It really put my mind to ease. Will let you know how things go!!!

I'm hoping they won't notice when I move out. We'll see.

I'm sorry to hear about your Mom. Vertigo is THE WORST. I got it a few years ago and went to the emergency twice thinking I was having a stroke or something. I was bumping into walls, couldn't focus, and throwing up a lot. They said I had menier"s, or dizzy spells. IT WAS THE WORST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENDED TO ME. No warning, then you are spinning and barfing. I had them for a few years every once awhile and then they just didn't happen any more. I noticed that my ears rang before I had an episode. I found a little benedryl helped, because my doctor just told me to deal with it and that it was common and would not give me any medicine for it. I hope your Mom's is something simple like that.

Thank you so much for your kind words of support and encouragement. I am sorry that has happened to you. My Dad has chronic Menier's syndrom and ended up with disability due to the severity. He had inner ear damage from his Air Force service. Many times though the cause is not easily determined.

I hope you do not get more episodes but if you do that 'deal with it' stuff is total BS. Get a doctor that is willing to work with you and at onset you can try diurectics and decongestion medicines. For managing the symptoms once it does onset talk to your doc about Meclizine (anti dizzy… sometimes available over the counter) and Phernergan for nausea/vomiting. That is just symptom management… unfortunately. The root cause of it still lingers and the hardest part is normally having to stay perfectly still with your head and not using your eyes to track anything like a computer screen, tv or book. At least that is what I have observed from my Dad's situation.

She is resting and recovering… Been a rough visit for her though with all this going on.

    Thanks again!

thanks..haven't had an episode in a long while. I did use diuretics and they helped a lot. I know how I feel before I get one, so I am pretty good and preventing them. It seemed like part of it was food related, and another was not resting enough.

Jenny99… thank you so much for suggesting the cleaning product! I went to three stores looking for anti icky poo and could not find it in town. Went to a specialty dog store here to get their ice cream treats and saw a product called 'UNIQUE' pet odor and stain remover. The packaging looked like the same concept,  a product you dilute with water and apply that is live bacteria and treats urine, vomit, blood etc etc.

The Unique is AMAZING!!! It is safe for people and pets. It has no fumes or caustic chemical agents. It WORKS!!! The carpet/pad/tack was pulled up last week. Wed and Thursday I treated the areas he soiled frequently. I treated the concrete subfloor exposed where the carpet tack was and also the vinyl that was underneat the carpet and pad. Allowed the product to work overnight on Wed and Thurs as the instructions said when treating heavy stains. I treated the entire room with a weaker mixture due to it not being soiled except for those heavily soiled areas.

There is no urine smell in that room! The new floor was installed today. For new soiled areas I can just wipe up using a weak solution of Unique/hot water. No more carpet… no more pads. I can't believe it!!! I have had two friends come over and insisted they stand in the room and smell it!

It is amazing! For anyone that needs a product to get rid of biologic/organic stuff (almost any pet parent would need this) try it!!! I had to sidetrack to share my experience with this product and thank Jenny for telling me this type of product existed. It has worked when nothing else did. I am so releived and happy!

Tomorrow I will put on new baseboards. One more mirror to put up (bought wrong size) and new pole room will be almost complete!

I had forgotten about this post!

I just installed a mirror myself and  Ihave to say- it was empowering! I asked my hubby to do it and after three days it wasstill leaning against the wall. SO while he was out, I took his tools and did it myslef! I used drywall anchors- the mirror actually had holes in it where the screws go so I sisnt use a Jmold, I just used washers on top. Everything seems secure, level and in place!

I also have vertigo- When it is severe ,I take antivert. 🙂

    Congrats ion your pole room!

I've never heard of anti-vert. Is it a perscription? I've only used the Icky-poo stuff, but Unique sounds greats! I have to put a note out for my husband, so he won't forget..but often it will take him weeks before he get's too it.

Look at Kojabo84 home studio.  It was a small bedroom she converted into a home studio.  Actually has TWO poles (one in the corner she demonstrates on).  But the space works!  It has mirrors on one wall, she has her shoes sitting out, a few foam rollers etc.   I had a lesson there and it worked fine with TWO of us in the room.  She put down hardwood too……loved it!
