There is not one "best pole".  There are several manufacturers that all have pros and cons.  I am not sure where you are located but the big names in teh US are Lil Mynx, XPole and Platinum Stages.

First you need to decide on material and width of your pole, then the rest is a matter of preference.

I will say that lots of polers on here have XPole just because of their ability to adapt to any ceiling height.  If you rent or may be moving in the near future, or even if you just want to take it to a friends house you are able to easily with an X.

Oh, you will be looking in the range of $300 for a pole.

Lilmynx is the most affordable pole out there, and is a good pole for starters. It is also good for different ceiling heights. It is also a 1 piece, which is a bonus. You do have to drill one hole into a joist, though, and some people are put off on that. If you can drill into your ceiling, though, lilmynx is a really good starter pole, especially for the price!

X pole, Platinum stages, and Pole Danzer are more expensive.

PS and x pole have removable poles that don't require drilling. X pole only carries a multi piece; PS has both 1 piece and multipiece removables, as well as some permanent poles. I've heard pole danzers removable pole isn't too sturdy, but their semi-removable ones are studier??? <—Dont quote me on that though.

ok Thank you all for the information!! How long have you all been pole dancing? And when you first started- which moves were the most hardest for you to execute?? Im not nervous about the dancing- im more nervous about the tricks!! I don't want to be working on the same tricks for forever! Im just hoping i don't suck at it! lol

EVERYBODY has different difficulties.  Some moves that have been really easy for me are really tough for others and vice versa.  We all start somewhere.  I have been at it over 4 years and there are still a lot of things I cannot do that many girls are doing a year in.  Any move that requires shoulder or hip flexibility I cannot do and I have issues with finding a balance point with things like ayesha because I have long arms, long legs and a short torso.

I started pole in mid 2008, did it for about 1 1/2  years took a 9 months off, then got back into it again when I moved in late 2010. So 3 years total. My hardest move for me as a beginner-ish dancer was the cradle spin. It was awkward for me to be semi horizontal with a split grip. I'd say the reverse grab took me longer than all the other spins as well. I was too afraid to grip w/ one hand and throw myself in front of the pole. Mind over matter!

I can't do anything with hip or shoulder flexibility either. I think that's why I can't to the pretzel spin! A lot of the girls on here surpased me a long time ago, but I and have an easier time with spins than tricks. My sweaty hands also make me very hesitant.
