Just put this so people can make their own conclusions. Obviosuly the MSDS is for pure flouride, so it's not gonna be corrosive in the diluted form it is in in toothpaste. I think that those of us who are prone to sensitive skin should be cautious about what goes on their skin.

Okay, I'm passing the info on again…

" you are rubbing it into your pores/sweat glands. your skin IS absorbing it. rinsing it off is not getting it all off, you are still stripping (unhealthely, there are betters ways to strip the oils) your skin making it even more easily absorbed!!! you would have to wash it off with soap and water to even come close to minimizing the effects it can have. in addition, those are just the chems they are telling you about! it's so hard to find ALL ingredients in tp, if you can find it at all. “Your skin is enough of a barrier to keep fluids within your body,” writes Samuel Epstein, MD, and author of Toxic Beauty (BenBella Books, 2009), “but it also readily absorbs many things with which it comes in contact. Beyond the fact that skin can absorb chemicals is the danger those chemicals pose in the body. Many experts agree that absorption through the skin is more dangerous than through the mouth. Substances absorbed into the digestive system go through the kidneys and the liver where enzymes break them down and often detoxify them, whereas substances absorbed through the skin go through no such process. “Chemicals taken in by the mouth are absorbed by the intestines and pass into venous blood, which is taken to the liver,” Epstein says. “Carcinogens absorbed through the skin bypass the liver and enter blood circulation without this protection.”"

Again, just be careful in using something that is not for its intended purposes.

Hi ladies for grip i use passion body tape Hahahahah i know that sounds funny right but it works…i use to for the fitness stuff …you can't really spin with it ..so what i do is wrap it around my pole, its width is just like duct tape1 7/8" wide…its a stretchy tape made from skin -safe and reusable PVC vinyI get it through passion parties…its purpose it to tie your partner up without the hurting…google it go to passionparties .com and its under arousing passion…hope this helps abit…it works for us and looks great wrapped around the poles…

That seems like the same concept as the tack stuff on pole gloves. Can you sweat through the stuff? I know I tried duct tape around my foot to keep a bandage in place but the tape slipped off because of the sweat.

So I bought mini tubes if 5 different brands, none avail.
Yay for the polers that can find use. I can feel the usefulness immediately afterwards but no good after 10 minutes, I’m a natural ‘I’m freezing’ person that LOVES the heat, but am moist (clammy more than sweaty)all the time, my hands can be cold & moist in the 90* F summers, good except on SS on brass.
iTac, TiteGrip, Dry Hands don’t work (or I haven’t used the right combo) only thing that works= dry washcloth in my cleavage to take out every 5minutes(literally) to wipe off hands, warm up pole(not dry off pole, COLD hands)

OMG should I worry abt the toothpaste I get on the skin of my lips during the 3min I brush my teeth? 2x a day? Everyday? So 10x/wk = 60min/wk? That is if I’m practicing good oral hygiene… Hmmmm… Just guaging this risk vs that of 10-15 secs of tp on my hands maybe 2x-5x a week? Even everyday that’s maybe up to 120secs a week = 2 min/wk?

Yeah I think I feel the odds are low-risk enough vs using toothpaste in (& inevitably some ON) my mouth, that I feel confident & comfortable advising my students to try this approach of rubbing the stuff on their hands & rinsing right off.

BTW Anyone know the safety of our skin’s exposure to iTac? ? X-grip? Dry Hands? And at what point is our use of any said products (used as directed, of course) excessive?

Grip aids are used for their intended purposes and have been tested for such uses.

UPDATE: I've tried the toothpaste idea for about a week now (that's four days of classes for me) and I've found that if I leave it on for a good 15 minutes and then wash it off the results are great. I do have to put on some dry hands eventually, but it's been a revelation.

As for the articles and skin contact, I do believe you use the toothpaste at your own risk. If anyone has any skin issues in the near future and they think it's from the toothpaste please post back on this thread! For me, I know it works, and I'm a happy girl 😀 <33

This seems to be working as a good grip aid for me. And might I add for those worried about it being on their sking for a few seconds before being washed off, let me remind everyone that you have mucus membranes (and skin) in your mouth which make absorbsion easy. And like with anything else you apply to your body, test in a small area first to see if you have a reaction to the product before you apply it to a larger area.

I tried it on stainless. Worked pretty good but I thought it would be better. Guess, I just needed to have the pole a bit warmer.  Then, I cleaned my pole and was stuck like glue! But after some time Dry Hands is necessary 🙂

Yes, I did all that. I did my warm up not on the pole, so it was cold. I guess I just needed to warm it up. As I said, I later had good results 🙂
