New Itac Formula
Posted by luvlee on January 3, 2013 at 12:09 amThere was an older thread about this but I can not find it for the life of me, but I recieved 2 samples of Itac recently and the formula has been changed. It is more greasy feeling at first. It does not take much at all and you need to rub your hands together a lot to activate it. I used to much and actually slipped worse. I wiped some off and rubbed it in and stuck like glue. They have 2 formulas now Regular which is the old 2 and Extra Strength which is the old 4.

Yes here is the other thread:
I miss the old formula. I have been leaving my new ones open to dry them out a little. I'll update when I know if it helped or not. I thought I was rubbing it in enough but for my next practise I'll focus on doing that more to see if it improves my grip.

Okay just to follow up I HATE this new stuff!!!! Sometimes it works well and sometimes it's like slip grip errr My old Itac was consistently grippy and was my go-to brand for new moves or for a shaky pole day.
R.I.P my beloved level 2 :'(

I heard through the grapvine that there has been some drama over on the itac homefront. It sounds as if this stuff has become more like the bowling grip than the originaly itac.
-
Interesting they changed the formula. I did notice the other day on the X-Pole site that they did not sell the version of Itac I bought when I got my first pole back in Oct 2011. It's the Itac level 4

I noticed that too-I usually use dry hands but for things Iike elbow grip or my knee pit ill rub some on but the last time I slid right out of my elbow grip…and with my sweaty hands, I don’t dare rub it on lol

Guys, the best thing to do is contact the company and complain. Remember how tite grip changed their formula, and people complained, so now they are offering the old AND new versions!?
-
I really loved this stuff. I have samples of the new but haven’t been able to mess. Around enough with it to make an opinion yet. I am mad that they even messed w it though.
-
I thought it was just me but i noticed the same thing.
My teacher has the i guess old stuff cause its amazing, like freakin glue.
A bunch of girls got there own and its oily, like grease with no stick whats so ever. Booo! -
I have the newer one and I do whatever I can to keep it off my hands. I use a makeup sponge (tip form Charley) to apply it to my legs, and arms. It only takes a teeny, tiny amount.
-
@Chem, from what you've heard do you think there may be a possibility of Itac going back to their original formula?
-
I agree AG. I emailed them here: http://www.itac2.com/contact Oh what I wouldn't do for my old itac2 (sigh)

All I know is that there is some guy called Warren Gamble who has started a facebook page, trademarked the product and says he discovered it, but that was all done in March 2012. We all know that Itac has been around for a much longer time and that Peter was the guy. So I really have no idea what all happened. I don't know if Peter and this guy were business partners and the partnership went south or what.

According to this Itac joined facebook in 2012: http://www.facebook.com/ITac2PoleDanceGrip\
However they were around much before that and had a street pole competition in 2011 : https://www.studioveena.com/forums/view/4ef0e5a0-3524-4690-83c8-31d30ac37250

Oh, and there was a contest in 2010, too, because that was the year my girlfriend won.
-
Yeah the paperwork I got with my chrome pole had and I still have them adverts for Itac 2. It's the same one you'd see in the first issue of Vertical Art &Fitness which shows Karol,Alethea and Estee. And the first issue of that mag came out in 2011…..

Well they wrote me back and said they didn't change the formula and that beeswax varies between batches. They offered to send samples to see if it makes a difference.
I really appreciate that they took time to respond the same day but I'm skeptical about the formula being the same. I ordered my extra strength and regular strength seperately from different venues at different times. As well I doubt all of us that noticed a change purchased from the same batch. Can all that new mushiness really be attributed to beeswax?
I guess I'll give it one last try and take the sample offer since I really loved this stuff and would love to be able to resort to it when I need. *fingers crossed* stay tuned…
-
Oh wow Luvlee, Was it the Itac people that told you it's different?
-
It was! I guess I need to ask them more plainly in an aemail though. They said in reply to a wall post that Itac2 is now Regular and Itac4 is now Extra strength. SOunded like they changed it to me. Let me email them! I need to figure this out before I order more. I was gong to order both strengths. The stuff lasts forever!!

Ladies, before ordering might I suggest calling bowling alleys around you can seeing if they carry Columbia Non-Slip grip cream. It sounds as if the new formula of itac is similar to this now, and when you are talking less than $5 vs $20 it is worth checking out. This stuff has a light minty smell and works just like itac but is very thin vs the old style itac, which makes me think it is like this new stuff you have gotten.
-
@Luvlee yes I read the same thing about the levels on ebay. I guess they mean that it's the same stuff labled differently but the whole texture and grip is different to me.
@Chem. Thanks for your suggestion. If I have time this week I'll track down the bowling grip and update how it works if I can find it around here.
Also I asked Itac to go ahead and send the samples just in case it's the beeswax as they said and of course I'll update if it's the same as what I already have or not.
-
I was just about to order a new pot of itac when I came across this thread, I had my old pot for years, and it only finally ran out. Really dont want to order the stuff if the formula is a cheaper mix and slips, especially since it’s so expensive. however I did find something called gorilla snot on a uk pole site, going to give that a try this round.
-
Sorry I forgot to update,
I did get the samples but couldn’t really tell. I ended up ordering a full sized container and am pretty used to it. I could swear it’s not the same as before but it still does the job for me. I’m able to do holly drops safely with it. One thing I should mention though is that my pole usually has a bit of firm grip residue on it left over from other moves I’m learning so I don’t know if that helps balance things out a bit. -
I went to our local bowling alley and found the Columbia Non-Slip grip cream. It was $3 for a jar. Totally worth it to me. Can’t wait to try it out.
