Most painful moves!
Posted by Kyrsten on January 28, 2012 at 3:48 pmJust a fun thread.. we all know "no pain, no gain" was written about pole lol. What is everyone's most painful move so far?
"Burning" wise.. I always hear about superman being really bad, but I never had an issue with it. Scorpio is by far the worst "burn" for me, right there on the inner thigh. Ouuuch.
Bruising/tenderness wise, I think Jade splits have been the worst for me, I have the world's shortest torso and it's so hard to avoid smushing my ribs. That and knee pit holds, which I still can't do.

I didn't think anything could be worse than hip hold for me – and the only reason I even really pushed for that was because I wanted a jade so badly. 🙂 Then I started working on my knee hold – due to a knee injury, my knee was not stable enough and my legs weren't strong enough to make it happen.
I thought that after getting my knee reconstructed last April that I would be able to do it – except that the site that they used to harvest my hamstring graft now has a screw in it, and that is exactly where my bottom leg contacts the pole to support me. I still try it once a week, and have always felt like I had a high pain tolerance – but yeah. This makes me want to cry. I may have to just accept that I am not that tough of a chick! And that is ok. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif

Scorpio is killing me right now. Same reason, the inner thigh pinchies.
The superman only really hurts me the days AFTER I pole (right up by my butt crack.) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif
I can't even do the yogini or teddy yet from the pinchies. I gotta work on my armpit grip more.

I just started learning pole poses and such, and the first one I was able to do was an inverted crucifix. And man, did that pinch my thighs. They were on fire and super bruised.

I have no trouble with superman, I find kneehold I still cannot let go! And Scorpio still gets me!
-
Im jealous of anyone who does superman w out pain! I slip it into most every combo I do – and it still hurts like sh*t! Knee holds, scorpio, hip holds..no pain- superman 10 plus!!

Embrace and no hands cradle. My tummy just isn’t used to that level of burn, especially my belly button!

Anything involving an armpit grip. I can't even bear the pain long enough to go into or try anything with it. Just my weight being held there and not even my full body weight is enough to make me want to scream. They are soo tender. I've actually almost wondered if maybe I need to try using a numbing agent on them to make them a bit less sensitive until my skin gets used to it.
Thankfully this is the only spot I have had a lot of issues with. Jade, superman, ect no issues. I think my legs are just tougher then most.

I'm with old english. The Remi sit makes tears come to my eyes. Armpit holds don't bother me much for some reason. Knee pit holds used to, but once I developed hamstrings of steel they stopped lol.

remi, remi layback, remi extreme by order of increase pain..
knee hold, specially the open knees variation
no hands cradle
embow grip shoulder mount/dismount and all the embraces (elbow grip aysha dont bother me at all)
last but not least, no hands superman aka superpain (indeed…!)
I eventually got over the pain from superman, marley and scorpio, but i still remember quite well how hard it was… supose with enough practice the others will stop hurting as well…

I think they all burn at first, it's the nature of the beast! It's amazing how the body acclimates to the burns, bruises and abrasians. When I first started poling I would get bruised on the inside of my legs and arms. Other dancers who had been poling longer would nod their head and say "workin on a new trick huh?" I would nod back, a little embarrassed. I think the worst was Yogin. I was black under my arm. The other was knee hold. I was afraid to go to court bc I looked like a battered woman! lol. Now, I only bruise very rarely when working on a new trick, however, I do have this odd rash on my shoulder from SM. I use special cream on it and sometimes I wake up at night just scratching the heck out of it (the good kinda scratch, like poison oak–it feels so good but it damages the skin with red marks). The cream seems to be working, so even though I usually stay away from creams in order to not get it on the pole, I have started moisterizing at night with really good product.https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

The teddy bear kills me! I think because my boobs get in the way…. and it takes a bit longer to get the right spot? And I can’t do the Scorpio for the life of me…with the pain on that little tender spot on my upper thigh! I think I’d rather poke my eyes out 🙁 Lol

Almost every new trick when you're first learning it is painful in some way or another. You really have to be a masochist to pole dance;)

remi layback is so painful! i just can't get over the pain on my foot. it's not the same kind of pain from the tender spots on your thighs. it just feels like i'm about to break every bone in my foot and it'll never stop hurting! haha
i hate doing yogini even though i can easily do it because it hurts, but i don't really mind teddy bear.
jade used to hurt and going from jade to scorpio did too, but i think my thigh is over it cuz i've tried it so many times
i don't like the elbow grip air walk/boomerangs or embraces. they really hurt the inside of my elbow
the worst is still the remi though
-
Agree poleprincess! I can't remi at all cos it crushes my foot on the bottom and its SO painful 🙁
I find YOGINI most painful and I can barely do it cos of the sheer pain, I jump off the pole screaming!!!
Knee hold was SO painful but now that I can do it, it's not painful much now
Superman I never had issues with, I could superman 20 times in a row without much leg chaffing going on! maybe cos I get into it from a Shoulder mount there's less leg smooshing going on?
-
Allegra–I can do it, but it hurts so bad I bail everytime I feel the pole digging into my lower back/ribs. 🙁
