I broke down and ordered Art of Pole yesterday. I can’t find any classes in my area and many youtube videos are stunning to look at but they don’t provide very much instruction. I also am pretty much all over the place when it comes to do with the pole LOL I think a curriculum based approach would provide me with the structure I need to better evaluate the progress I make and condition my body to start learning harder tricks.

I can’t tell you how relieved I am to read such widespread and unanimous praise for the Art of Pole series. I ordered the whole set about a week ago and was nervous because of my experience when I ordered my first "pole". Suffice it to say that all poles are NOT created equal, and I learned that the hard way! I’m glad I won’t be getting burned again.

I purchased the entire set of Leigh Ann’s DVDs and I must say I’m not impressed. From watching her on YouTube I really expected a classier set of DVDs which actually walked one through the spins / tricks much like what Jamilla does.
She does some stretching, but for the most part it’s basic stretching. She talks through the moves while someone else actually performs the move. However, she doesn’t give enough pointers on what muscle groups are working, what to be careful of, etc. Totally not what I expected. I’m not returning them because she does have some decent combinations.
Hands down…The Art of Pole is the best collection I’ve see to date and I’ve purchased quite a few DVDs in the last 30 days.
If anyone wants a breakdown of The Art of Pole by disc I’ll be glad to email it to you. Simpe PM me and I’ll get it to you.

I purchased Leigh Ann’s advanced DVD. It is fairly short and shows only 5 combinations. It is not as professional as Jamilla’s DVD’s (which I highly recommend). I think for what you get, the price should be lower. Leigh Ann’s communication/explanations could be better. It’s cool to watch a few times b/c she’s so beautiful on the pole, but if you are really advanced, you can just watch her on youtube and pick up the combinations.

Hi- new here! I am very new to this and am about to get my own pole. I started buying dvds and I have a few, including leigh anns box set. I saw on utube first. I loved the style of it and came to really envy the touch of limberness, I am a huge fan. She does awesome tricks and has a unique hair flip, knee bend hip combo. Also in the dvd has someone else well known that I can’t remember at the moment." miss sexy"? I remember from a utube competition vid,i think. inspires me

Jenna, you are thinking of Alethea. She won the title Miss Sexy at USPDF in New York in 2009. She is awesome on the pole. Her floorwork is UNBELIEVABLE…she’s like a tightly coiled spring rolling and bouncing and twisting all around on the floor. Truly one of the most talented dancers out there.
I will say that Leigh Ann has started responding quite a bit more to her comments on her You-Tube channel. I used to get a little frustrated when she did not respond…I guess I like to spend a lot of time really studying each performance video and it’s always nice to get a little "thank you" from some-one. I looked at my earlier comment and thought maybe I was a bit too negative and harsh. I like to keep it positive…and I know she is a busy business owner…
As for the DVD set, I don’t have it. Well, even if it was light on instruction…she and Alethea are pretty awesome. It would be a pleasure just to watch them dance!

Wouldn’t it be great if Netflix etc. had these vids for us to watch and return before deciding to purchase?

I’ve been wanting the Art Of Pole set, as well. But, is it ALL on spinny mode? I’m not a huge fan of spinny mode, and I’d like to watch of walk through of advanced moves on static (or at least moves that translate the same on static mode). Anybody know this about the Art Of Pole set? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I have Jamilla’s DVDs and they are awesome. I’m in level 7 (of 10) with Aradia in Canada, and I’ve learned things from the first two DVDs. They are very well done, she’s very thorough in her explanations, and repeats the moves so you can work along with her. She shows you how to do moves on both spinning and static, but always on static first. They were well worth the cash.
Good luck!

i have many pole dvds now and the 2 i would recommend to anyone are jamillas series (she is excellent) and vertical dance (w kt) really covers alot of moves and breaks things down well w tips.
leigh ann and bobbis dvds are more for the experienced pole dancer looking for combo ideas ect.
pole kats is ok, but i would choose kt vertical dance or art of pole series by jamila over that
