OK, so body sweat: Not the most appealing thing to talk about, but we all have/do it.
I have been active in many other sports such as volleyball and softball, but I never sweat this badly. When I am pole dancing even for ten minutes, I start dripping in sweat.
Needless to say, this makes it difficult to grip a pole when the sweat is making it slippery.
I especially notice heavy sweating when I am doing handstand on my pole.
I recently bought iTac2 and have found this to help with the gripping, but with sweat getting in my eyes I have to get off the pole and wipe my face frequently during a workout.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is it just a newbie thing? Will it go away as I get into shape?

Dirty girl poletice is amazing! Also excessive sweat can be a vitamin deficiency.

Thank you, Johnssdeere! I checked out the dirty girl poletice- It looks like some good stuff. I will have to look into the vitamin deficiency. I know that I am deficient in Vitamin D, but I am not sure that would make me sweat.
I never sweat outside of doing pole, that’s the strange part. I am thinking I am just out of shape.
Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it.

Apparently, Vitamin D deficiency can cause lots of symptoms. I take a vitamin everyday, but I may need to look into taking Vitamin D supplements.

Go easy on the Vitamin D as high doses have side effects.
Dirty Girl can be used any where on the body, face included.

I sweat like crazy. it does get a little better as you become stronger in certain moves and you build stamina. but for me, it has just kind of become the norm for me as I am always pushing myself harder to advance in harder moves. if its getting in your face you might want to wear your hair up with a bandanna tied around like a headband. this might absorb some sweat. dirty girl poletice works really well on my body for temporarily stopping sweat on my body. it works pretty well on my feet and armpits or knee pits. I have never used itac but I think I’ve heard that it is not recommended for sweaty skin as it may cause you to slip. caffeine makes me sweat more too.

Thanks, Joel. Yeah, I think with my daily vitamin I get 100% of needed Vitamin D daily. I will def be looking into Dirty Girl.

lilredrobinhood, I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who sweats like this. I am hoping it will get better as I get stronger. I have only just begun. I have a pixie haircut so there’s no hair to put up, lol, but I can still wear a bandanna; good idea. I like the iTac2 a lot. My pole is on the slippery side. The first time I used it, I put it on my hands. Not such a good idea. It’s better to avoid the hands and apply the itac using a towel. I apply it to my stomach, back of my knees, side of calves, etc. I found if I put the itac on my hands, it would grip me too much and I wasn’t able to do a whole lot of poses. By applying it to certain parts of the body with a towel, I still get really good grip without being stuck to the pole.

I’m sweaty girl. Always have been. Probably always will be. My main thing is to wipe the sweat, wash my hands, and clean the pole periodically with alcohol.

AerialGypsy, That’s what I’ve been doing- cleaning the pole with alcohol. Lol, us sweaty girls have to stick together!

    Lol, YES! Sweaty beasts unite!

I’ve honestly tried everything out there. No grip aid works for me. You can see beads of sweat forming right after I wipe my hands. I have resorted to just not using hand grip aids, washing my hands, wiping the pole, and using gloves when they get TOO sweaty. Depending on the weather depends on which pole works best for me. I stick like glue to brass, sometimes too much. Stainless is grippy for me, except when my thighs get too sweaty then I slide. Keeping a fan pointed at me helps. Have to periodically do the sexy “air out my thighs with the fan” position.

Lol, I recently put a box fan near my dance area. That way when I dance, I can turn it on. It does help a little. Hahaha! I know exactly what position that is. I have to put the fan down my shirt and in between my thighs. I am sure my husband loves that part of my dancing. Lol!
I’ve never tried brass. I like the stainless steel with the grip aid. But I have to use it sparingly. How long have you been dancing, AerialGypsy?

I started pole in late 2008.

Wow, that’s really great to hear. Did you take any classes when you started out?

Yes, I did for about 1 year then moved to a place with no lessons. That’s when I found SV.

That’s neat. I think there is one maybe two studios near me. I am thinking about taking a few lessons. I am really enjoying teaching myself for now though.
