Posted by Angie-poo on February 19, 2010 at 11:49 pmHi my name is Angelica and i am 20 and a single mom to a 1yr old, I am new to pole dancing and i hav so much trouble when i try to do anything on my pole…i think i lack upper arm strength but its so bad that i cant even get a pole sit rite without hurting myself…it really sux so if anyone has any advice for me please feel free to offer it

Welcome! I’d work on spins 1st then maybe some floor work and transitions and then start working on the pole sit.

Welcome, I would definitely work up to the pole sit too by doing some spins and floor work as suggested by freethesun. See Venna’s lessons on strength training like push ups and such that she has on this website… those are so good choices to develop the strength you need. Don’t give up. Welcome single mama!!! I am also a pround single parent of a 3 yr old. Poling definitely takes time, so don’t push yourself too hard. You don’t want to burn yourself out. After you build your strength for the pole, carrying the little one will be a sinch! You may even get some compliments from other moms! Good luck!
