Help! Xpert too short without extension and too long with 125
Posted by Kate O on October 6, 2013 at 9:19 amAs the title says, basically. I'm really confused!! Without an extension it's too short to reach the ceiling but with the 125 it's too long. So maybe it's not twisting up as much as it should? I don't know how to fix this and Xpole office is closed at the weekends so I can't call. Any help?

Wondering if this could be the problem? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wA4MsehEcZA&feature=channel_video_title But I'm pretty sure I've never tightened mine on the threaded sections so I don't understand. 🙁

How tall is your ceiling? I believe that the adjustor gives you a little over 5 inches to play with. You may need the 100 mm extension if you are right in that middle region but you should be able to adjust the pole without the 125 extension to get it to fit. Notice how I say SHOULD.

Thanks for your reply! I don't actually know, I've had my pole up in a few locations and we've never measured the ceiling, it's always been a trial and error thing and I've never had problems before. It's shorter than the ceiling in my uni house, where I used the 250. Having watched installation videos etc I'm concerned that the problem might be that it's not fully extending, as you say it's supposed to be around 5 inches but I'd say mine only extended by about two. So perhaps something is stuck 🙁 it twists freely for the first 2 inches but then starts to feel like something is grinding/grating and doesn't extend any more, leaving it still about an inch or two away from the ceiling. Any ideas on how to fix this? I've Googled it without much success, I'm wondering if WD40 is the solution like in the video I posted above.

I was going to say, looking at my ‘instructions’ I got with mine there is an overlap between the ceiling height: extension so technically this problem shouldn’t exsist, only the possibility of it being to small with 250 so need a bigger one.
Reading your latest post I would have to agree with you! I can’t give you any help on how to fix it though 🙁 if it were me I’d prob try WD40 and if that doesn’t work I’d email xpole to see if they have any suggestions
Good luck! -
Thanks, I think I'm gonna call them in the morning and see what they say. Hopefully it's something relatively simple!

Apologies to everyone on Veena for not responding to Tech questions for a while. We finishing our new Development Centre offices and moving in, it has been a 24/7 experience for some weeks.
If the adjuster is only moving 2" it sounds like the locking screws have been tightened onto the treads and that has caused a flat spot which will not allow the threads to undo.
The only way to release this is brute force and even then sometimes it will not release itdepending on how deeply the threads have been flattened.
Try to get two strong guys with rubber faced gloves and see if they can release/undo it.
If not give us a call on our new phone number 0208 449 4400 and we can advise further. Our tech team may be out some of today advising on a studio install but they will get back to you later if they are not there.
It may be that you need to return it to the development centre and have the team take a look and fix it.

Thanks for your reply, sorry if this is a stupid question but what exactly am I trying to release/undo? I'm not great with this kind of thing

Kate – You are trying to undo the adjuster. The screw part that you say will not expand/unscrew more than 2".
First you need to undo the 3 screws at the bottom of the A-Pole tube, We would suggest you take them out (Please refer to your instructions if you are not sure about the A-Pole – it is the one with the expanding screw thread) and then get 2 strong guys to try and undo the adjuster.
Sometimes it helps to screw it in a little first and then undo it.
If it is locked, look into the screws hole and see if the threaded part is damaged. It may not be obvious but sometimes it is.
If you still cannot undo it we will need to look at it at the technical department.
Give us a call tomorrow if it is still not undone.

Thank you! Got two here actually haha, so I'll give it a go tonight and call you tomorrow if it's still not sorted. Thanks again

UPDATE: my boyfriend's friend (who is good at this sort of thing) managed to get it to twist fully up by itself! There is some threading damage, not terrible though, and he reckons I don't need to do anything with it (now he's cleaned the gunk/loose bits off it). Does this sound right? Can now put it up and take it down without a problem (he helped me find a beam too :D) so excellent news. I haven't tried twisting it all the way to the bottom as short as it will go in case it gets stuck again, and for the moment I don't need to as I'm storing it in a cupboard still assembled as one long piece. So fingers crossed if I just leave it it will be fine? I made sure the screws were on the flat, not threaded sections of the adjuster this time.

Excellent, we are glad you got it sorted. If you have any more problems we carry all spares in stock so can supply a new adjuster rod if necessary.
