Congratulations! I felt SO lucky to have been there and see so many I have "met" on SV compete in what was such a positive and supportive competition. Loved the variety of strengths, styles, and abilities represented within each division. Well done everyone!

Huge congrats, ladies!!!! And thanks, Meagan for the great recap. I love reading about how much camaderie happens backstage. People don't realize that there's actually very little backstabbing and cattiness at pole competitions (sometimes I think, much to their chagrin as they like envisioning it as some sort of taudry reality TV show backstage) and I love that one of the Elite competitors made everyone gift bags! All the ladies bond together over a highly intense and stressful situation that they're sharing together.

Looking forward to reading everyone else's recaps!

Also, did anyone attend Kelly Yvonne's seminar? How was it? (she's a close friend and my choreo coach.)

Hi all!  What an fantastic weekend. Congratulations to all of the contestants.  Everyone was amazing!  (Actually, this is my first post ever as I just learned of this site at the competition.)

I did attend Kelly Yvonne's seminar.  I enjoyed it very much.  She did a great job explaining how a dance routine is a story, how all of the pieces fit together, and how to go about getting them there.

I was so bummed to miss Kelly's seminar but having worked with her on this competition – I have to say if anyone gets a chance to work with her do it!  She really helped me a lot by challenging me to explain with my body what I was trying to say which for an untrained dancer like myself was an incredible experience.

Everyone was so amazing this weekend – every performance rocked.

This was a really supportive and fun loving group of women.  Everyone was helping everyone get ready, giving each other a much needed ego boost before getting onstage and really just came together in full support of each other.

There were so many Veeners there and sadly I didn't get to meet everyone or even talkto Veena as long as I would have liked 🙁  I wish we could have stayed longer and that the weekend would have been longer.

The crowd was so full of love for everyone – cheering before we even started our music and routines.  They were screaming their heads off the entire time.

Mary Ellyn and her crew were extremely organized and full lof love and laughter.  This was an amazing experience for the competitors, judges and the crowd!

I have heard from many people that Kelly Yvonne's workshop was awesome. I wish I could have taken it but I had to get back on the road home. took collettes on marketing it was great!

Everything was freaking great, the people, the performers. Mary Ellyn did a fantastic job and her staff was wonderful. I was working Alethea' and Karols table most of the day so didn't get to talk with as many people as I would have liked but had a blast working the table as well.

For me, it was an EPIC weekend! I have to agree about Kelly's workshop; it was so helpful and totally inspiring! Clare Sterret's workshop was just delicious–literally! And of course I always get so much from Alethea's tutelage (I'll be paying more attention to my ankles for sure)! The routines were so great and I cheered myself practically hoarse! I got to hang out with Joel and Laurie, breakfast with Prana and hot tub and do topless True Blood with Karol and Alethea which was the apex of the whole experience! Mary Ellen and here staff were great and the St. Louis crew did a fab job of pole cleaning and the Wisconsiners (Maureen's gals) were so much fun to sup with! Now whenever I go to Detroit or Chicago events, I really feel like I'm coming home! XOXOXO to all of you! Can't wait to do it again!!!!

Special shout outs to Veena, FuzzyNavel and PoleDancingKat!

Congratulations to EVERYONE who participated in addition to those who placed. Just getting this far was an accomplishment and an experience!

We were so happy with how things turned out and that everyone enjoyed this event! We had tons of press coverage too so that really helped make things exciting.

We were unable to swing a videographer or photographer but we had an amateur videographer volunteer and he is shipping a CD to me shortly. I will post those on our Midwest Pole dancing youtube page once we edit them (they have to be divided up) but in the mean time I am linking all I can find on our Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/event.php?eid=144175388945046

Plans for next year are already under way!!! 😉

Cricket, Natasha I presume?- I took Kelly's seminar. It was absolutely amazing. She opened up new possibilities for me, and I feel it's brought out some new strengths and opportunities as well. I'm hearing my music a different way, I'm understanding movement in a new way, and I'm even thinking about the act of performing and competing in a new way, which I'd never considered. She's an inspiring presence with an infectious energy. My favorite thing about her process is that she's expanded the ways in which I can develop an emotional connection to music by finding the concepts that unite a sound with a movement. Not only has that added a new depth to my listening, it's made it easier for me to remember choreography as well. I won't shut up about her to anyone who asks, even though I'm sure you already know all these things about her. 🙂
