Just wanted to share this vid, which uses the foam roller to stretch for the oversplits:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-lEp0Xx1ko

I can't quite get into the splits yet, but using these two stretches has improved my flexibility immensely.  In just a few days of adding these stretches to my usual flexibility routine, I've gone from about 5" away from the splits to 2".  And the second stretch on the roller especially feels good!

Thanks for sharing! These look like great stretches. I will definately be adding them to my routine. I too am struggling to get my splits. I use the maxiflex which is great but it's always good to mix it uphttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I use the Maxiflex as well!  Although not as often as I should…. :-\  It's been a great addition too.

I have the same issue. I love my maxiflex but I have been neglecting it lately and doing my stretch on the floor after running. I'm a believer now in the power of warm muscles. I get so much farther in my splits after I'm super hot after a run. I tried the stretches in the video you posted and wow what a difference! Great for the hip muscleshttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Aww yay, glad they worked so well!!  There are some other good videos by that person with resistance bands, I've started checking them all out now.

Really? I'm gonna check her out! If you find anything else let me know, I'm always looking to add to my stretching routine. I get bored easily and then lose motivation so I keep trying to switch it up. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

My other latest stretching obsession besides foam roller is Active Isolated Stretching.  If you google it, you'll find a ton of stuff.  Basically, it tries to train your muscles to remember a larger range of motion.

I'm a huge stretching and flexibility nut (mainly because I'm not that flexible and am trying to improve!) so I'll post if I find something good!
