  • Double move ideas on a stage pole

Hi everyone, I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas on doubles moves for on a stage pole. The height is proving to be the difficult thing, trying to use all the pole but having so much wobble at the top. It will also be static so can’t do any of the spinning moves where one person holds the other. And we’ve found there’s not enough height do to the one where someone’s inverted and holding the person below.
Anyone with suggestions? Anything is appreciated xxxx

What stage pole are you using?  I have done doubles on an X with no issue and I am 5'8".  I would suggest watching Gravity Plays Favorites on youtube.  They have a fairly short pole and do a ton of doubles stuff.

Thanks for theat chemgodess they use sometimes a really short pole, got some nice ideas there. Its just a shame you cant see more of them they only seem to use one routine with same combos. So if anyone else has any other links or ideas that would be great!

We do a lot of work in doubles (at the studio where I go) where only part of the pole is used, so that we can get used to having less space if we need to – things like top person in a flatline gemini or scorpio while holding the lower person's legs so they can do a deathlay/superman while holding the extended leg of the top… Or anything where the fly stands on the base (using balance and leverage) while the base holds a superman or leanback/layback… 🙂

These are two of my instructors by the way – once they get onto the static pole, they do a few things that could be done on a shorter pole, if that helps 🙂

Just a side note, for the most part Michelle and Katie do not choreograph any of their routines.  Every time you see them on stage it is freestyle.

Also look up the Head Over Heels troupe Dakota Fox and Bonnie Cozmo.

Stuff that can be done on short pole:

double inside leg hang, double layback, star gazer, front knee hook, numerous spins, pike/sit, death lay/plank, knee hold, sit/inverted V (person on top as the "pole"), inside leg hang/inverted splits
