Calling All UK Polers!
I am conducting a study for my university dissertation, the aim of which is to investigate why you decided to engage in pole dancing and how it makes you feel. It will also explore any negative connotations related to pole dancing and how this affects you.
You will be asked multiple questions regarding your participation in pole dancing and you will be free to elaborate as much or as little as you wish. Any information you provide will be treated with confidentiality and you will be free to withdraw from the study at any time.

Hi there, happy to help 🙂 I’m just starting my second year of a Bsc Psych degree (after a break of several years) were you able to find much previous research related to pole dance?

There isn’t too much research related to pole dancing to be honest, however there is a lot of writing on post-feminism, which I think is highly relevant to this topic. Are you thinking of doing a pole-related dissertation too?

I’d be willing to help. Have you thought about contacting providers of pole classes to ask if they would pass on your questionnaire to their students? There’s probably a lot of UK polers who arn’t on here…

Almost all the existing sociological studies on pole dancing have been conducted in studios, so I thought I would base my research online to see if my findings will be different 🙂
