  • Best pole for hot hands?

Posted by Rock n pole on October 29, 2014 at 3:40 pm

My hands get hot quickly so it makes my grip really bad on my chrome pole after a while. I have tried hand grip powders etc but they make spins impossible as my hands stick to the pole.
Will a brass or titanium gold xpole would give me a good grip?
    Thanks so much 🙂

Not sure why hotness makes your grip worse, I’m assuming sweat? My TG heats up much faster than the the chrome, maybe stainless steel would be a good option? I have no experience with that one tho

Yea they get hot and and very slightly damp, the rest of my body is so dry, I don’t know why my hands get like that!
I just can’t grip the pole unless it has candle wax on it, that’s the only thing that gives me 100% perfect grip and gives me perfect spins, inverts etc. a tip I got from my old pole instructor.
I will look into the stainless steel poles, thanks so much for the reply 🙂

Hmmm you might look into a powder coated pole then? I’ve never heard of the candle wax thing, that’s such a cool idea!

I use tea light candles, plain white candle wax. Coloured and scented candles don’t work as well.
Most dancers at the studio I go to use it when practising new and difficult tricks, it makes your grip really good 🙂

Hope it works with your skin and humidity where you live, I use it for my aerial hoop too. Works so well with that!
good luck and thanks for the replies, I will look into powder coated poles 😀

Ooh! Do you rub the pole with unlit tea light or your hands, or do you light it and use hot melted wax on hands?

Just rub an unlit tea light all over the pole. Just do a thin layer first to see how you get on.
It takes a while to get used to though!
You might find it far too grippy but once you are using the pole for a few minutes the wax softens and gives you a good grip but perfect freedom to smoothly spin, hold positions, drop down the pole etc
but it depends on your skin, might work great or might be bad. Its a miracle for me 🙂

Thanks for this! I will try the tea lights! Not only are my hands hot but they sweat like crazy as do my feet, I hate it! Hopefully this will work for me!

Just remember youl get some blisters on your palms but your skin gets used to the friction really quick.
I hated candle wax the first couple of times but once my skin toughened up I couldn’t live without it!
And the wax will warm and soften after a few minutes letting you spin etc, first few minutes is a bit rough 🙂

I would try Stunt-grip and RipFix to look after your hands Sue

The candle wax idea is MAD ! I am definitely trying that =] haha I’m glad u asked tropicalpole I didn’t even think of using an unlit candle, I would have been rubbing hot melted wax all over my pole !! =$

Just rubbed the pole down and gave a quick split grip and CAR just to see and it seems pretty damn good so far! CAR is my nemesis even on warm poles, so if CAR can happen…that’s a pretty great sign

That’s awesome 😀 it’s just a hassle to clean the wax off again haha but so worth it! Your hands might blister up tho, but your skin gets used to the friction after a short while.

Update on the wax experience for those who are interested. I also have hot hands! Many of my massage clients have commented on them o_O but i figure if anything its helpful! I am a human heating pad.

That being said! The wax worked really well for me in the beginning, then weirdly enough when it started to warm up it got slippy, so the opposite of rock n pole! BUT I would wipe down the pole with some alcohol when it got slippy (like I would do without the wax) and it helped cuz it gave it a nice texture until the wax fully melted away. So it was a bit of the best of both worlds, good grip and a clean pole at the end! Definitely will be using it again
