BOOTIE SHAKE
Posted by Tovah on June 15, 2011 at 12:17 pmHello Everyone,
I need some bootie advice…lol
I just saw Karol's routine from the convention & I https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gifhttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gifhttps://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif the bootie shake. Does anyone out there know how to do this?
I am thinking perhaps this could be another challenge for a month. Trying my bootie shake but not quite so shaky.

Lots of relaxing and not afraid to be goofy and practice. Only use your muscles to push or pop it in whatever direction then let gravity take over. Like if you pop it up, stay up and let it fall on its own, don't try to push it down. This will help you feel when its moving on its own and when your flexing. Tight muscles don't shake. Hope that helps.

Depends entirely on the kind of shake you're trying to get! Hehe https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
The trick to what I consider the "normal" shake, or the bellydancer shimmy, is that you need to squat down just a little bit, and then it's all in the knees! You move your knees opposite each other, front and back (so when one is forward, the other is back) and very quickly! You don't need to do it very big, just enough to get all that hip/booty going!
Some people also do this with their feet…I'm not entirely sure how, because I imagine that would mean a lot of clattering when wearing heels! However, there's an excellent video of it. It's Michelle L'amour's performance at the 1st annual burlesque festival in new orleans! Yes, she's a burlesque dancer…and there's a reason her tag line is "The ass that goes POW!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mU2y_XVgd_A
She starts around 4:00 or 4:10, if you want to skip the delicious tease and get right to the bum.
She also showcases a couple of other ways of doing it, with some strong muscle isolation (by flexing her thigh muscles in the back, she can make the whole thing shake!), and the nice hip movements which allows it to shake as well!
And, I know that Veena has some wonderful lessons on booty shaking, if you've got access to her lessons.
And, if you REALLY need more help, take a little belly dancing or burlesque class! They'll help you out! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Can someone post a link to Karol's video? I'm not sure which one everyone is talking about, and wow Michelle can shake it!
-
Cherished: I took a look on Youtube for it, but I can't seem to find anything with Karol shakin' her thang. I agree, I'd love to see it!
And yes, Michelle sure can shake hers! I couldn't imagine how long she had to practice for that…I know I can't go for that long! She's one of my most favourite burlesque dancers ever 🙂

I am 100% in love with Michelle L'Amour. Her show's SPECTACULAR.
Karol's most recent vid–the peacock/booty shake one–is so fun and cheeky (pun in tended), I love love love love love it.
My booty does.not.want.to.shake. I jokingly refer to my ass as "audit ass" because from the way my muscles refuse to relax you'd think the IRS were after me lol. I work on it, but it frustrates me. I work on it again, it frustrates me.
I figure if a teeny tiny booty like Karol's can get to shakin' so fabulously, mine certainly oughta! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif

I put up a video on here with my booty shaking and a blog with a few tips….i hope they help. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

JuggaLuv87…lol That is one scary bootie shake in a good way. How did you learn that?
I need 'BOOTIE FREEDOM' because mine doesn not shake like that although I want it to.
BOOTIE TO BRAIN SYNAPSE PLEASE!

I used to think my butt would never move too. I was totally stiff as a teen. You just have to practice shaking it a little everyday. One trick my friend taught me was to bend over, put your hands on your knees, and without using your back bounce your booty by bending your knees up and down slightly. Or try bouncing on your toes…kinda like the move i did at the beginning of the video. These moves help the muscles relax and kinda loosen for me. Its like veena said in her videos….doing squats helps you get a feel of what muscles you'll be moving. I STILL cant do that strattle booty bounce thing she did.

if you can, take a class with MARLO. she is my ultimate queen of booty! lol https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_queen.gif

I LOVED karol's routine at the pole convention! As of yet there is no link to it on youtube that I can find, but on badkitty's facebook page there is recording. It embarassing how many times I've played it lol 🙂
-
curlzgrrl thanks for the tips! I am always looking for a new way to shimmy. Since I was (blessed…?) with one, I might as well use it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
I love that video of Karol! Its fantastic and fun!

I'm going to have to try some of these tips.
Masked Loopy thanks for the link to Karol's vid
Runemist I can see why Michelle is your favourite. I love her style. I saw a clip of her on youtube from one of the talent reality shows (I forget which one) but Brandy Norwood was a judge and treated her so unfairly but Michelle kept her composure the entire time.
Now I'm off to shake what my Mama gave me (she wasn't very generous though 🙁 lol)
