    Hello,

I'm thinking about a month long visit to Atlanta, to check out the aerial dance scene, and I'm wondering if anybody knows or has an opinion on the pole studios in the area. I googled it and a bunch popped up and checked the websites (that worked) but it didnt really give me a feeling on any of them. I'm intermidiate to advanced and looking for a studio to train at. I intend to start submitting to compitions this year. Any thoughts, related or not would be greatly apprecited.

Vertical Joes for booty popping.  You probably want to hook up with Skittles if she is still there.

I also understand that PoleLaTeaz closed but 2 of the instructors supposedly were reopening it.

Are you aware that you can skype train with some of the big names?  You have the skills, you just need the polish.  I think I still have your cell if it has not changed.  Let me find out some contacts.  Did you know that Jade and Alethea are now buddies?  Alethea just moved to the same place Jade did and they have been hanging out together.  Not sure if you are still in contact with her but there is an opportunity.  Both Alethea and Zoraya offer packages to come and live and train with them, as do some others.  You need to know what style you are trying to go for and then find where you need to go.

Yeah Im aware, I'v gotten quotes form zoraya too. I really like her style. I've been thinking of tryin chinese pole. Flexiblity is not my strong point. But I deff have strength. Just feeling a little a lost. Theres not a really good pole and aerial community here in nola and Im starting to realize that I may need to relocate. Satred working with an aerialist to choreograph a pole piece today.

Polateaz – dancy. just started a new level with heidi coker. a few student compete.
    Dance 411 – don't know
Verticals Joe's – booty and tricks
    Pole Waxers – tricks
    Spinarella – don't know
Most of the studios have YouTube videos to see their dance styles. There are a few more in town too and then a few outside the perimeter. I know their general audience but not sure which would be more geared toward competiton. Most of the studios do groupon frequently for drop in classes if you want to shop studios on the cheap.  I think skittles moved to tx? but occasionally does returns for privates. Heidi Coker teaches at a few studios and i think she does privates also. Hope this helps.

I teach @ Vertical Joe’s and compete also. I’ve been to all of the studios in the ATL area except for Dance 411. You may want to take a drop in class at each studio to see which one you like. Heidi (instructor at Polewaxers & Polelateaz) is great also.

Pole la teaz is a joke I went there and was not happy wouldn’t recommend to anyone. That’s why I am having such a hard time finding lessons myself in Georgia because scared might run into another place like them. I have thought about. Vertical Joe’s or spineralla they seem like pretty good places. But I have a question about the live and train with the pros thing how do you go about contacting them to do that? Want to get competition level so that would really help.

Alethea had a post on Facebook regarding it. If you go to her website I am sure there is info there too or at least a way to contact her manager. I believe that I saw Zoraya’s on her website. Google Zoraya Judd.

I don't think PoleLaTeaz is a joke…LOL since I am the owner but different studios offer different things. We have been in business for 7 years and have a huge (loyal) clientele base. We have a super strong program from Level 1-7 and we train with many people including Heidi Coker. I have no clue what class you came to but we offer A LOT.

ugghhh..hit  enter button prematurely…but our target audience is the everyday woman. do we have students and teachers that compete…absolutely but that is not our focus. we like to give women a fun class and a workout that is attainable. we offer everything from jiggling to jade splits 🙂 but we definitely have a more dance focus…that is what our clientele desires and demands. we have many students who have no desire to learn pole and some that is all they want to do. many of our instructors come from a traditional dance background so we incorporate that a lot into our classes and we are known best for our flow.

but i know all of the studio owners in Atlanta area and one thing I can say about all of us…none of us are a joke. we all work hard  ( in our own way) to serve our clients the best way that we can.  and all of us LOVE empowering women and supporting them in their fitness goals. and that i can proudly say 🙂 but at the end of the day you have to shop around for the studio that fits your budget, location, style and teaching methodologies.

if you are looking to seriously compete i know bespun has a week long bootcamp type of thing that helps  pole dancers to train for competition. they have one at the end of january after the la pole show and i think she usually offers it a few times a year. i personally dont know anyone who has done it but i thought i mention it.

    happy poling 🙂

Anngiern the reason I say your studio is a joke is because it is a rip off I signed up for a summer series event to one class where it wasn’t what was advertised learned nothing besides rubbing our butts on the wall and rubbing yourself did two so basic a person with two left feet turns on pole. When contacted you was told would get a partial refund of the $120 I paid you refunded $20 and kept $100 for one class. So yes pole la teaz is a joke and rip off called better business bureau on that establishment. Might get in trouble for this post but feel ppl should be warned about places like this. I had saved for months being a single mom extra money is not something I always have researched and drove over an hour to you for that to happen. Wish someone would of warned me then maybe I wouldn’t of wasted $100 for one lesson. O and I’ve been self teaching since then cause scared of trying other studios in Atlanta because of your establishment.

    Whoa, whoa, whoa,

    tigerlilies,

I dont know you or the atlanta community, but I hope that you can leave your bad experiance behind you and try out some other studios. One of the greatest things about this and other aerial art forms is the community (or potential community) behind it. It's one of the reasons I'm considering relocating. But at the same time I think maybe it can be a great opportunity help build a better one here.

Seems like Pole le teaze may not be the place for you but its pretty awesome you have options, theres only one studio in NOLA and its in the burbs. Go find some pole friends, it definitely enriches the practice and workout. Try an open studio drop in before dishing out the dough for a series.

I really meant for this to be a positive and helpful thread.

i wont get into account issues b/c my account manager handles that but if you came to one  class we start at $25 per class and deduct from there. we try to be extremely fair when it comes refunds and studio credits.

but honestly there is no way we could have been in business for 7 years ripping people off. i have literally have taught over 5000+ women since i have been open. i started with a small 10 students in a tiny rented yoga studio room in 2006 and proudly have grown to over 150 clients that come to us weekly,40 to 50 parties a month and 25 instructors. and that is mostly all word of mouth and referrals from current clients.

we offer free teazers and intro workshops on a weekly basis so potential clients can see what we are about and to see if we are a good fit for them. sorry if you did not get a chance to do that first before signing up. we obviously teach more than rubbing ourselves…LOL but there is also nothing wrong with getting in touch with your sensuality.

but at the end of the day you are entitled to your opinion. we do the best that we can for women that come to us. i love my students so much! they inspire me every day and the reason why i work so hard. but i have just come to learn that you cant please everyone.

i just think that it sucks that people on this forum talk trash about studios and slander people.  (one of the reasons i hardly come on here anymore and why many others do not either)have i personally had less than savory experiences with with other studios i have visited or even lesson/workshops with national/international pole stars? absolutely. but i have enough respect to not come onto a public forum and slander them based on my one or few experiences. their teaching style or studio just did not fit my needs. that same teacher/studio might be awesome for someone else. so i dont want to ruin that for them.

True I will agree to disagree but one last thing not just my opinion since my experience and I have bank statements to prove and complaint I filled but numerous ppl and some studios feel the same because when I research other studios they all go o yeah their like that when your studios name is mentioned. I said my experience to help others from makingthe same mistake I did if it wasn’t true wouldn’t say it. Maybe I’m wrong but I thought this site was to help fellow polers find things like good studios, share tips and advice and help one another that is why I told of my experience. To share and inform others to maybe help someone else from making the same mistake. I know pole instructors work hard pole is challenging and a wonderful sport and dance so would never say you do not work hard. As you said you own a business not me I’m just trying to learn and grow and who knows maybe one day open a studio but if something or someplace is a 1 in my opinion if rating from a 1-10 I will be honest and say a 1 if a place is a 10 will say 10. So my comment about pole la teaz is just that my opinion and when someone asks for ppls opinions on good studios I will give mine if I have one or any experience dealing with any studios in my area. That is all and happy poling and have a wonderful evening everyone 🙂

Yes, anyone can attend the workshops at VJ’s & Yes I do privates as well.

I’m a former student of Polelateaz and I don’t think they are a joke. I had good experiences there. Although I teach at another studio, I’m still very supportive of PLT. Maybe you should drop in to different classes.

What is your skill level & what are you looking for in a pole studio?

May I suggest purchasing a groupon/living social deal so you can try out classes at different studios without spending a lot money.

Btw (to the person that said VJ’s is for booty popping): Not all VJ students & instructors (myself included) booty pop. I take it you’ve NEVER been to VJ’s to make that incorrect assumption.
