I bought that same gigi hard wax kit and gave myself a wax and didnt have any problems other than the fact that it took me forever cuz I didn't know what I was doing

I like sugaring. Its awesome. YouTube it. And yes, the scars from waxing or birthdays and such fade really fast 🙂 like a year.which in scar time is fast!

I've had good luck with chemical peels fading the scars from acne….I have no idea if it would work on your legs though :/

I use to shave but got tired of the fast regrowth. I've never had a full on brazilian before out of fear of pain and because I felt uncomfortable with a stranger looking at my lady parts. I ended up doing something totally crazy. I bought an epilator which I used for my legs and loved the results. One day I got brave and decided to epilate only the bikini line. It hurt I'm not gonna lie. I loved the smooth results and the hair grew back a lot finer. Well after awhile I got even more brave and ended up epilating everything off!! I do it after a shower so the hair and skin is soft. For the first few times I had to do it in multiple sessions because of the pain but the results were worth it. Now I can epilate everything in one session. I have two epilators. One for the legs (to do the bigger jobs) and the other for the sensitive areas. I always disinfect and clean them daily. I use the bigger epilator for the top part of you know what and you kinda get used to the pain so I can seriously just run the epilator on that part as if I was epilating my legs!! I then use the smaller one for the sides. The smaller one has less tweezers so it doesn't hurt as much. I use No Bumps right after to prevent ingrown hairs from Sally Beauty Supply. This whole time I've only had 1 ingrown hair down there. I love the results and the fact that the hair grows back slower and finer. I wish I discovered it sooner. I swear some of the pole moves are more painful. Give epilating a shot if you are curious. It's a one time cost to purchase the gadget and mess free!!! I hope this helps and sorry it was so long.

Yeah I've been using an epilator too MalciousMynx. It does work amazing wonders especially since you and I are not comfortable with someone else staring at our lady parts! I used to shave but the hair always grow back so fast. With the epilator the hair grows back finer so it doesn't hurt as much the 2nd time you do it. I also had to do several sessions the first time around because it hurt so badly! One thing I did notice is not to do this a week before your period, you are most sensitive then so it hurts extra badly. I find I have to do upkeep once a month, which is actually a significant improvement to having to shave down there once every other day!
Stevesgirl – I have the Philips Bikini Perfect epilator. It's actually a swiss army knife of a tool. You can trim, shave, epilate with this thing and it was super cheap. I bought mine off Amazon.

@ Ninjachic – Ohh a year, thats awesome! I can deal with scars for a year if I know they'll go away! *crosses fingers* 😀

@ Stevesgirl Both my epilators are by Emjoi. The bigger one for the legs is the gold caress that's purple. The smaller epilator is the epislim. It's white and fits perfectly in your hand. I got both from Amazon.
@ Ewa isn't an epilator just the most amazing tool? hehe. I'm glad to hear that you and I had a similar journey. Not a lot of people are open to talking about it. Before I actually "went for it" I tried to do some researching online but no girls were posting about it. It was mainly on waxing. So I just decided to give it a shot and it worked out well for me. I used to shave my legs in high school so I was done with the whole messiness, warming up etc so I knew I didn't want to experienment and wax down there. One thing I forgot to mention in the post is I also find the epilator really saves me time. It only takes me 10-15 min max to take everything off my lady parts in one session.

I second sugaring. I've done laser for my underarms with decent results. And I've had wax brazilians done for years, but then, since i was doing most of my waxing at home (with the gigi warmer and creme, later switched to hard wax), I decided to do my own brazilian at home. Extended bikini, no problem. Brazilian. Holy crap did that hurt. I ended up having to pick off the wax in small little chunks. It wasn't pretty. But I've since gotten back into sugaring (grew up in the middle east and it's quite popular there) cause it's cheaper and I can make it at home. I got brave enough to take my extended bikini wax to a full brazilian again but this time with sugaring (AKA Halawa). Wow! So much less pain, super effective and really easy to do. I recommend getting familiar with using halawa first, but once you do, so simple.
For those that want to try it. I do 2 c sugar, 1/4 c lemon juice, 1/4 c water (if it's humid, maybe a bit less). Heat to 260F. Allow to cool a bit and then pour onto the back of a lightly greased cookie sheet or plate. Peel off when cool. Stretch till it's opaque and sticky. Slide on against the hair growth and rip off in the direction of the hair growth. Reball and go again. Store the stuff you didn't use in the fridge.

Isn't it funny how people are different? I tried sugaring a handful of times and I don't think even one hair came out! I know it was done properly too – it just didn't work for me! I think I am going to try the emjoi. Hopefully, I will be one of the ones that it works for!

I had a brazilian done once. To tell you the truth, the pain, caused by the hot wax, while she was pouring it was more painful than the waxing itself. And I loved the results – no bumps, no ingrown hairs and it didn't grow back for long (which is a surprise because hair on me grows back in hours, not in days LOL). I'd do it all the time but the darn thing is expensive. So I shave, but that's when the ingrown hair come to say hi https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif

Yup, I third sugar waxing. It took me a few tries to get it right, but now it’s so easy & convenient. It hurts soooo much less than hard wax! I pour mine in a Gigi warmer for easy reheats. YouTube has tons of good videos on it. Amy11190 and Arabic wax by Learnarabicwithmaha are my favs. Sugaringhair also has a good series on technique. Good luck!

After reading this thread I've just made up a batch of sugar paste to attempt my legs lol. I've been trying to get a tutorial on making the paste as opposed to the one that's like wax (I end up with a mess if I try to wax myself lol) but the only one I could find was the one MieleRu mentioned with the arabian wax but after 3 attemps I end up with a big block of what looks and feels like rock candy every time lol. I've followed another recipe though and am just waiting for it to cool so I can try it!
I used to get brazillians done regularly at a salon but I had a little incident happen a few times that I won't scare you ladies with lol. I'll just say that it scared me off having them done anymore! I did try again years later on myself with hard wax and it was a NIGHTMARE! That stuff glues on and doesn't come off except the hard way lol. Hopefully sugaring works for me.
Good luck with the bumps!

@Stevesgirl: You really have to get the technique right with sugaring to make it work. It helps to plaster the sugar paste on and let it sit for a second or two before ripping it off (making sure you don't let go of it completely). But it takes a decent amount of practice to get right. My friend came to try it and I could make it work, but she had the same issue where it would grab just one or two hairs at a time.
@Poison dwaft: I had issues with so many of the earlier batches I made. Some were too hard, some were too soft, some were the right consistency but wouldn't stick to the hair (this is why the lemon juice is important, some people don't even add water when they make it, just lemon). Then getting the technique down took some time cause I'd mostly had it done to me, not done it myself. I'd try to get it right for a few months and then just give up and go back to self waxing and getting brazilians professionally done, and then a year or so later I'd try sugaring again. Finally this last year, I've got it pretty consistent. So there is a bit of a learning curve. At least the ones that get too hard to wax with can be eaten like lemony sugar candy=, so not a total waste.
For those of you that are doing it but still find it too painful, I know many ladies in Egypt would smash up asprin and mix it in while they were making it. Not sure if it really made a difference or was just a placebo effect, but many of my friends swore it made it even less painful.

I tried sugaring yesterday it was a huge fail! It tastes good though lol I really wanted this to work out I have been using "Magic Powder" for years and I am tired of the burns and bumps.

It does take some time to get sugaring down, but it is so worth it once you do. You save so much money and spare yourself the agony of wax. Here's a link to a good demonstration and cooking:

And here's another series on technique. They use a flat tool, but most people just use fingers:
Google sugaring or sugar wax for lots more! Happy sugaring!
