Anyone had any problems with Pussycat Poles? What’s the best pole option for Aussie polers?
Posted by Caitlin on August 28, 2011 at 11:22 pmHey Veeners :o)
I'm looking into getting a pole again now that I'm settling in Australia for a while, but I'm leaning against going for an X-Pole like I had back home, as I've heard that both the titanium and brass versions are only thinly coated and can wear off it a few months, and I don't want to go for a chrome one again as when summer kicks in here i'll be slipping and sliding right off.
So I'm looking at a Pussycat Pole (their full-removable, brass 45mm that does both spinny and static), and I''ve phoned them a few times and their customer service seems to be really great, but before I spend $905 I really want to be sure, as I've never had a go on one before. To be honest $905 for a great pole compared to $700 for the equivalent X-Pole isn't too much of a step-up once you're paying that kind of money anyway, IF they really are that much better…
Has anyone used one before, or own one? What are your experiences? Would you recommend them? Any problems?
Or does anyone have any other recommendations for good brands? (bearing in mind that I'm in Australia)
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts guys, thanks in advance!

I’m in the process of saving for a pussycat pole too 🙂
I dislike x-pole…..ALOT! Haha. I have a brass for sale that I only used 3 times and as soon as it sells I am well on my way to getting a PCP.
I can say though from what I have been told regarding the poles, the benifits of a PCP outweigh the Xpole dramatically.
I wish I got one to begin with and never bothered with Xpole and all the drama that came along with it!!
I know that they use PCP at the ‘pole princess’ studios in Vic. And they also use them at ‘bobbi’s’ studios.
On the PCP site they have a list of all the studios that use their poles, maybe you could get in touch with a studio that has them and go try one out 🙂
I can’t wait to get mine!!! 🙂 -
I wish Id have known that when I bought my X pole too. I also have a brass one a slide like crazy. I cant even understand it. I bought it so it would be sticky to learn on and its anything but. How are you cleaning yours @5 butterflies? I thought maybe I was doing something wrong.

The studio I take lessons at have Pussycat poles and I have to say that at under a year of use they are starting to develop patches on them that appear to be much less grippy than they were when they are new. The spot at the height that most people tend to grip at is becoming smoother to look at even and I have to say I am feeling the wear on them. I was talkign with a few other girls at the studio today and they were saying the same thing as I have been thinking about the poles seeming to lose their grip. Even the instructor made a comment about it. I clean my brass pole at home with acetone and stick to it like glue. I have been using it on the ones in the studio when I go and it helps to a point, but I still have to pack on the grip which I generally never have to do.

@Paulette, I just gave it a wipe with metho. I literally had it for a week & only used the pole 3 times. On the 3rd go I fell very badly from it due to it being Sooooo slippery! I hurt my neck and back really badly. After that I packed it away into the boxes it came in and put it on eBay.
Im sure there are list of people out there that love their xpoles but I am not one of them lol.@madfelice, that’s good to know about the wear on the studio poles but I know for a fact that my home pole will not get anywhere near as much use as what a studio pole would haha 😉 so I don’t think that wear from use is something I’d need to worry about lol 😉
Also the lady from PCP I spoke to on the phone said at anytime if there is something not right with the pole to contact them and they will do whatever they can do to ensure that their customers are happy 🙂
Alot better than the 6 month warranty from Xpole in my opinion. -
@ Caitlin: I thought you knew that at Bobbi's they use Pussycat Poles?! HAHAHAHA. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif They just have them in the 38mm Brass Spin, that's all!
I'm guessing the PCP 45mm Brass will be exactly the same as the ones in the studio but only a bit thicker. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
I guess it all depends on how well you've liked them at Bobbi's. Just bear in mind that they are quite well worn in and the finish may not be as grippy as a brand new PCP.

Hey Joy 🙂 We need to meet up soon! They've actually just got the one PCP at Bobbi's, the one nearest the door in the Penthouse room, so I'm going to try it out tomorrow!
@5Butterflies That's awful! I hope you've recovered from your fall now. I liked my X-Pole when it was all I knew, and to be honest I never had any problems with mine back home, but I frequently borrowed them off friends for teaching and had heaps of problems with theirs jamming or the chrome peeling off etc. And I've heard AWFUL things about their customer service, but again I never actually had to utilise it. PCP just seem more professional and customer-service focussed (and on the contact us page they don't have a picture of a woman lying on the floor staring provocatively into the camera with her hand between her legs… come on X-Pole, you're not doing yourselves any favours!!)
And yes, it would take a home pole a long time to work up the same amount of wear and tear as a studio pole does in one year, luckily!
Haha, so no-one has ANYTHING bad to report about Pussycats for home use?!

@ Caitlin: Yeaaaaah! When are you free?! Are you still at Bobbi's for this new term that's just started this week?!
You never replied to my FB message! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gifOooh, there's a PCP in the Penthouse Room closest to the door? How do you know that's a PCP? What are the rest then if not PCPs?!
HAHA about the X-Pole girl image comment! Didn't know they had that on their site!
Mmmm, nah, no negativity as far as I'm concerned. I thought Bobbi's poles were all PCPs.

Sorry I didn't reply to your FB message! For some reason I don't seem to get emails about messages on FB anymore, I don't know why 🙁 Sorry about that honey! I love your profile pic, btw 🙂
I think the rest of the poles are just Bobbi's own poles, as far as I know. I phoned and asked Vanessa about the PCP and she told me which one it was, but I've never noticed it so it can't be that much different from the others.
I'm signed up for Flex on Thurs again this term – I'm getting steadily closer! To right and left splits anyway, centre splits may never happen! I'm not going this week tho as I got my tattoo finished on Sunday so I'm having another healing week. I'm free most of the time really tho! It'd be cool to do a practice on a Sunday maybe if you fancy it? What are you doing this term?
http://x-pole.com.au/contact.htm Check it out! Totally unneccesary! But pretty funny.

Hahah I had to check out the info page, classic!! You’re right on! Ha ha!

the US contact info page just has the contact info 🙂
the brass is a new product for xpole. I love my chrome from them and was thinking about a brass beacuse usually they are so grippy but that doesn't seem to be the case with xpole..:(

Hey Caitlin!
I'm also doing Thursday nights – 6:15pm Pole Grooves & 7:15pm Int 2 with Sassy.
I'm personally quite bored with her PG routines (kinda the same-same and very predictable. Not anything like Chilli's routines at all! But both instructors will still give you a tiring workout in their PG classes!) and I hate the fact that I'm repeating Int 2 again.
I have been looking at going to a different studio for a bit to try and see if I can find something more suitable but unfortunately no one else's timetables fit my schedule! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
So I guess I will stay at Bobbi's for now.I will see if I can move up to Int 3 by the start of next term as I am honestly really bored of doing Int 2 three times now!
I can't wait to see you next Thu! Suns I generally like to chill with my man but maybe we can squeeze in a pole practice some time soon, eh?!
You looking at any other studios for now?
