I like Optimum Nutrition Platinum Hydro Whey. It’s a 100% hydrolyzed protein powder which helps with absorption into the body. It also dissolves well so no lumps of dry protein powder.

This might be TMI, but for me, it doesn’t cause any protein farts. I only mention this because it sounds like you’re new to protein supplementing and “gaseousness” is something you should be aware of.

Velocity Vanilla, Turbo Chocolate or Cookies & Cream Overdrive are my flavors of choice, the peanut butter and strawberry ones tasted too artificial for me.

I get mine for Amazon, much better pricing than GNC and I’m a Prime whore :\

I use “Raw Protien” because it’s organic and vegan which is a must for me. If I’m looking for more calories I use ” Raw Meal” – same company, more calories and protien. I’ve tried several different brands and I always come back to this one.

I am all about cheap but good protein. The best and cheapest I have found is Body Fortress Vanilla Whey Isolate. It is about $22 for a 2 lb tub at Walmart or Kroger and offers up 60g of protein at 260 calories. Basically after working out you want a fast protein which most of the time means whey. A fast protein breaks down and gets into your cells quickly. You want a slow protein prior to bed to keep feeding your cells, or basically casein. It takes a longer time to digest and therefore gives you a slow feed.

Many people who have had gastric bypass surgery use hydrolyzed protein, but there is no proof that it is any better than whey. And at usually 2-3 times the cost of whey for me it is not worth it. I have however bought the protein shots to keep in my workout bag when I used to lift just because they were easier and not as filling to chug after working out.

The only other proteins that I have found that are worth the money: Dymatize Elite Whey (OMG, their flavors are probably some of the best out there), Optimum Nutrition, and Fruit Blast the Whey (they have fruit flavors that are great in the summer time).

Hi there! I am not sure if you have heard of Moringa but it is one of the new “natural power foods” and is very rich in protein (more than spirulina) and also a while lot of vitamins and minerals! You can just put some of the powder into your smoothie or green juice or mix it with yoghurt 🙂

My boyfriend uses MyProtein and gets his whey protein from there… I’m just wondering if anybody has tried this out as I’m new to it? He loves it but I’m not sure if it’s for me?

I am passionate about Physique. It is a muscle repair product by Shaklee that does amazing things. I drink it after workouts and also just when I have sore muscles the next day, it majorly helps. Shaklee is a nutrition company that has powered many Olympic medalists and been around for over 50 years. I’d be happy to share more if you’re interested!

I really like Isopure in Dutch Chocolate- it’s really low in carbs and tastes great in shakes/smoothies!
