This is off topic of finding lessons, but does anyone here know how I would rig ribbons in my house?
-
WOW Joni! You are so lucky! Makes me wish I had bought a 2 story house. I do have vaulted ceilings in my living room, but I already have a pole in there. I never need a ladder to take it down, but if I got silks too, I would always need to bring in a ladder. Maybe I will get a rig even though my pool takes up the whole backyard and I don’t know exacltly where I’d put it. I’ll figure out something…I always do!
PUT THE SILKS HANGING OVER YOUR POOL! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

This information is great!! I just started aerial classes a month ago, and I love it!! I’m moving away from Atlanta in august for a nursing program so I want to learn as much as possible from my aerial instructor this summer. This way I can play on my pole or the silks to relief stress that I know the program will put me thru!!! I’m hoping my dad won’t have a problem setting up my silks rig :/

I’m dying to try aerial silks! Unless a studio opens near me (yeah right, we just this year got our first pole studio it will be 5-10 years before silks get here) it will have to wait until we build the new house. I’m sure the contractor is going to love us. A pole in the master bedroom, two in the basement bar and now silks in the foyer…. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

paulettepoles –
Just tried joining too…weird that you need approval. I am waiting on approval as well. I wonder what is in there as well.

@Paulette and @sensual –
re: the aerialarts site
I checked it out. Just signed up for beginner to see if I could get in. They send you an E-mail link to get your membership. After that, you can purchase lessons. Basic and Beginner packages for hoop and silks are $100 for 3 months. -
Yeah I finally got an acceptance too. I wish I had a rig in my apartment, then I could practice at home, then I could actually utilize those lessons.
-
FYI – Nimble Arts Aerial Fabric DVDs are now available at PoleSkivvies. I believe they also make rigging, so if you're interested, let me know.
-
I wish I could! but I can't drill into my apartment ceilings 🙁 One day when I have my own place.
-
@PoleSkivvies-
I’m interested in the aerial hoop lessons and rigging. Do you know if there’s anything available for that yet?
Side Note: I love your products and site! I’m a student of your gorgeous model Dawn Marie 🙂 -
@HotelChick – the aerial fabric DVDs are available here:
http://poleskivvies.com/aerial-silk-dvd-beginner-aerial-fabric-level-1/
http://poleskivvies.com/aerial-silk-dvd-beginner-aerial-fabric-level-2/These are in stock so can ship immediately. The rigging is made to order and can take a few weeks. If you know whether you want single or double point rigging, I can get you the details on pricing and when they would arrive.
(And thank you! Hugs to you and Dawn Marie – she is awesome!)

I am soooo excited! I took my kids to gymanastics and talking w the teacher afterwards- i discovered he is a retired circus performer and does privates from his house. He has silks, lyra and trapeze equipment, as well as all the tumbling stuff. My kids and I are going over next week to have a look and see about a group lesson. Even my oldest daughter who has diabetes (shes been very sick lately) and problems w both of her wrists is going to do some therapy there with juggling. Big happy smiling family! Then I can decide if I want toinvest in silks at home and lessons.

Mucho thanx for the links. Very valuable asset for teaching trapeze and silks. Had to back track the web address some to make it to the videos.
Try this one

search thru the links on the left side to Trapeze/Sheets.

I haven't used them yet, but these folks also do DVDs: http://shop.aerialfabric.com/Instructional-Materials_c7.htm
Christine Van Loo sells a set of instructional manuals, but I don't think she offers a silks DVD: http://christinevanloo.com/http___christinevanloo.com/Shop.html

Not to harsh anyone's buzz about online aerial classes but do read this blog entry and think about what he's saying. I think it applies to pole as well, although obviously many of us get a lot out of learning things online. Online learning for silks makes me particularly nervous though because of how wrong things can go if you get a lock or wrap wrong.
