In case not everyone got the newsletter, the new 40mm chrome x pert will be in the US. Same price as the other chrome poles. They may be getting the brass eventually.

Yes, we just released the 40mm chrome X-Pert pole! We also have the 45mm brass X-Pert available – you can call us M-F 9-5PT at 888-976-5387.

SO hapy about this!
I was looking to buy a pole for ages, and was going to get the 45mm. The studio I'm at uses 37mm brass spinning, so I was a bit worried about switching to both a larger size, and a different metal.
But then the 40mm xpert comes out! YAY! I ordered it a few weeks ago, and after a bit of a struggle to get it up (why are joists so hard to find!?) it's now up and I'm IN LOVE with it!

Good news….the 40mm is now in stock and ready for purchase.
Bad news…Xpole offices are closed Friday and Monday so you can order them on Tuesday!
I am seriously thinking of getting one…some of my newer moves will be easier to learn on a 40mm pole and then I can work my way up to 45 then 50!

It is pretty amazing.
The studio I'm at has 37mm poles, which are also pretty good, but I have a lot of trouble gripping them with my thighs (argh thigh gap!). The 40mm is only a teeny bit thicker, but makes such a difference, and I feel so much more secure on it.
Overall, I'm immensely happy with it!

My experience, going from a 50 to a 45: it's hard to do stuff like a regular crucifix, a pole sit, and a CAR at first, but all my other stuff like the inverted crucifix, knee pit based moves, and the plank have been fine. I remember attempting the gemini knee position on my 50, and it was really awkward for me (my thigs are pretty large.) Now that I have my 45, it's no problem, so I think that move is actually easier on the smaller pole. Learning new tricks has been fine too cuz you have no basis for comparison; you just squeeze way more than you used too, that's all, which is good cuz you build more muscle! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I think a 40 or a 45 is a good idea for you. You can start with one, and get another later when you get moola (as we all do…darn the pole addiction! It's such an expensive one!)

It is an expensive one! Whoo! I am a bit nervous about my legs, I feel like they will swallow the 40 whole.. But the hand grip is just too great to let go for my tiny hands, haha. I’m not sure when I can afford one anymore.. Money doesn’t seem to be able to stick around these days :/ Someday though… I will have my beloved 40, hehe

You'd be surprised how quickly you adapt down in size. I struggled for a brief period. Like I said, lots of SQUEEEEEZING. Are you on a 50 right now?? Maybe by the time you get the $$ they'll have brought the brass in (Australia has 40mm brass poles.) My brass pole helps add to my hand grip SO MUCH! I don't think I would have been able to do half of what I have done on any other pole (but that's MY problem, I'm a slippery bugger.)

I've just ordered a 40mm chrome which should come in about a week and I can't wait! I've only just started poling and my dance studio has 38mm brass, but I find brass too grippy so I went for chrome. I suppose I'll find it hard if I ever go to a thicker size but I'm sure I could adapt if I was really determined. I just wish my pole would arrive!!! *sets up camp at the front door* 😀

I tried the 40mm when I was in LA. Loved it but definitely tough to adapt the legs since I'm primarily use to the 50mm. Leg hangs were fine but slide right out of my inverted crucifix! I'm certain I would adapt but it was kind of funny when I tried it.

@Sensualscimitar – Yeah I do like the 38mm but because it's the only pole I've ever tried I have nothing to compare it to. I love loooove the hand grip though and the idea of a 50mm sounds huge to me! I like that I can really wrap my hand all the way around and my fingers and thumbs overlap. It feels secure. I can see the logic of thigh holds being harder but as I'm not strong enough to do them I can't really comment on it. By the time I do become strong enough I'll be use to the amount of squeeze needed on a skinny pole anyway 🙂

I have had a 40mm since March but I haven't had very much time to play on it. Here's my full experiences with it:
I used the 40 (part time) to train my static portion of my midwest routine and part of me in the end got a little scared that somethings were too easy but in the end because I have a 45 at home and spent most times working on the 45 – I was fine.
If I were competing I wouldn't want the 40 to be my only pole unless I was going to compete on the 40.
Last night I was in such a good spot emotionally and finally just played around with it. Spins are glorious on this thing – they take flight, you can really swing our and get LOTS of rotation and combinations are seemingly effortless. Anything requiring a good hand grip is much easier – I won't say super easy because try as I might I did fail all of my aerial tg lift attempts but the security of being able to wrap my hands around the pole made me feel much safer. I was able to do a single handed iguana mount/handstand up to the pole – this is something I could never do on the 45 because I was insecure with my grip. Once I got it on the 40 I moved to the 45 and was able to replicate the move.
I sweat LESS. Those who know me know I am sweatier than your average person, The added security of knowing that I had a firm grip around the pole seemed to quell a lot of fears in advanced and extreme moves which led to far less sweating! While I still needed to apply tite grip I found I wasn't using as much of it – which makes practice much easier.
Knee holds are a bit more painful and troublesome to get into however once in them I feel much more secure and can do more combinations – particularly combinations where I cam changing body direction.
Laybacks are tough – I am not going to lie about that however once I felt how hard I needed to squeeze I prefer them on the 40 over the 45. I was able to hold an epically long Janeiro because on a smaller pole I was able to create a more stable and what felt like a larger shelf.
Handsprings, ayshas and other repel moves- easy peasy!
All in all I really love this pole. If you are planning on competing or performing it shouldn't be your only pole because 45 adn 50 is still the standard. If you can have an extra pole for cross training I highly recommend this one!
