Webmaster’s Corner – It’s The Little Things – New Things On The Horizon
Hey Everyone! Veena and I were chatting the other day about some small technical improvements I made to our website infrastructure, and she suggested that I start sharing these things with our audience. So here I am! Feel free to ask questions, comment, or make suggestions on this post as well.
Generally, you are probably pretty aware of the big changes, or feature additions, that I make on the website. Things like completely revamping the platform or adding a feature like the new “Ask Veena” button are pretty easy to spot. This is a big part of my work here, but there are a lot of less visible things too.
This week I did one of those less visible things. This week we changed our DNS provider. DNS takes domain names like studioveena.com and turns them into an internet protocol address, or IP address. Our previous host had slowed down recently, and so by moving it I have shaved a quarter second off the first page load of the site.
This might not seem like a lot, but it has a cumulative effect. A quarter second here and a tenth of a second there add up quickly.
All this leads up to bigger things on the horizon. Veena and I have been working on some really big things. Things that will change the way you learn to pole dance online. As always, we aren’t going to say too much, but big things are coming to your pole dance journey.
