Oval Hoop… and other questions about hooping.
I decided to start hooping, it’s something I always wanted to do and then after seeing the hula hoop girl in The Cost of Living years ago it became something that I was going to have to do at some point or other of my life… so here we are!
Problem is a friend has made a hoop for me, but could not find connectors for the 3/4″ tubing, anyway, he used something else but instead of using the hot water he put the tube in the sunshine to warm it up, something’s gone wrong and the hoop is kind of oval… which I cannot understand… I tried to leave it with some pressure on and in the sunshine, but it’s still oval. In any case, it seems to work ok for now… my craft skill are also not great so the taping isn’t pretty! It will do for now as I seem to hoop ok with it, but for the future what to do? Start again? or buy one?
I buying one I was thinking of getting it from Hoopspin as it’s the only one I could find that would deliver to Cyprus… they seem to do 25mm hoops as well and say it’s better for beginners, but it sounds really thick and Veena’s instructions are for a 19mm… What should I go for? Any advice? The shipping price is the same for 1 or 3, so if I had to get more than one should I get a 20mm and a 25mm large as I am a beginner? if in the future I want to do more off-body hooping, shall I get a 40″ 38″ or even smaller 36″? Any advice appreciated – thanks!

Depending on what it was made out of they can loose shape. I looked at the Hoopspin site and they have nice stuff! You might want to go to their beginner section and order one of those. They should work just fine for the lessons here! Buy one!

Great, thanks! I will eventually order some of them and get a couple of different sizes and colors- I guess it is the best solution.

Yeah, your oval hoop will work for now, but I’d go for some new hoops!
