Hello polestars!
Question about knee high boots and climbing up the pole…. Do you find that you leave scratches on the pole? I just bought a pair and I’m afraid performing in them will scratch the pole up. Any of you have similar boots and can tell me about your experience? Thanks a lot in advance!
YEs, they can scratch the pole. I you have a pole that you don’t want scratched I wouldn’t use them to dance in. If the pole is Stainless steel scratches are ok, if the studio doesn’t mind, and often help with grip.
I bought the red version of those for my very first performance ever but got the ones with just a side zip instead. You don’t get the full grip advantage with the lacing hooks in the way if you are doing a basic climb. BUT you can do a swinging straddle climb or circus climb or side climb if you are mindful about the top of your outside foot touching the pole. I wasn’t advanced enough to do these things at the time but those climbs might work.
grr, was going to use them for our upcoming trick or twirl show but i dont want to be scratching up the poles…
@mystical, i got these off yandy.com. They’re ellie shoes which are comparable to pleasers but cost a bit less. you can find these anywhere online! just search either ellie shoes or pleaser boots!
Hellakkat, if you really are in love with the idea of wearing them, maybe focus on floor work and just come up with a few pole combos that don’t require the shin on the pole. Side climbs and gemini climbs and such are a good option.
