    Hello Everyone,
I’m so excited to be a part of this wonderful page. Even though it took me several months to decide whether I would fit or not. I’m new to pole and I have tried regular pole fitness groups. They were good but with time and feeling comfortable it somewhat became an issue for me. I am 5’1 and I’m what they call back home a Thick bone girl. Lol. I always feel like I’m not able to do some things because I’m thick with booty and thighs. Is there anyone like me? I often follow pole championship and pole Champs videos but you never see Thick toned ladies learn to pole. I always wondered why not. I love my size even though I need to tone But it would be nice to know I’m not alone.

Look around at the pictures and videos on here…..there are more “thick” people than what is represented in most competitions.

Thanks Chemgoddess.. I really appreciate your response. I will definitely look around a lil more. I’m not sure how to show a picture of me on here. 🙂

    Hey Ambience!
I can totally relate to the challenge of being a “Thick girl,” though I wouldn’t call myself fat by any means. As a friend said last weekend, “There is just nothing dainty about us!” and she is so right. I’m 5’7″, and since starting running, I’m maintaining a 200lb steady weight. I am NOT small! I’m also mostly all leg and hip, so… that one gets to be fun 😛
I think it can be a bit tough for us seeing so many beautiful dancers who have long, lovely legs and arms, and seem so lean. I’ve thought previously that I would love to have a longer torso, to balance me out, and so that people would stop telling me “Well, you don’t LOOK like you’re that little!” when I tell them I’m smaller around my middle than they think.
However, I think there are far more of us than we think, and I think that our proportions are something to celebrate! We only need to work just a little harder to get our hips up over our heads- and we don’t have to work nearly as hard to lock our legs around the pole and be able to balance upright 😉 Everyone has their own challenges, and with love and determination, we can all be awesome at what we want to do!

As for putting up a picture, you can upload a picture of you from your computer onto the site. You do it through your profile page, which you can find if you click on your name over to the right 🙂

Welcome to SV! Excited to see you around here 🙂

Thanks Neesy!! I’m definitely feeling the love. I really want to learn the pole position that you are doing on your profile pic. Is that open V hold? I’m not good With name.

It’s called the Teddy. That’s what they call it at the studio I used to go to. Most moves have different names and I’m really bad at keeping track!😋

Thanks. I will try to post a video of me trying the Teddy. I’m still learning how to post on here and what the challenges are for the month, but I don’t my video challenges to go to FB, instagram or twitter. I just want them to be on here so you guys can give me pointers. 🙂

I don’t think we can upload pictures or videos directly from our phones… you can always transfer them to your computer, though, and upload them to the site on there!
And Neesy’s move is still called the Teddy here too- it’s tough! I’ve been working on that one, too 😉

Thanks Phoenix.. I appreciate it because I got plenty. 😉 I will try to upload this booty shaking move that I been trying to learn from watching the strip club dancer that does it really nicely. Lol I don’t know what it’s called but I know you suppose to shake it or clap it on the pole. Lol But again mine DOESN’T LOOK NOWHERE NEAR how I saw it. Lol That’s my disclosure package for you to get idea of what it is I’m trying to do. 😉

Well rounded that’s me. I am 5’8″ and run at 150. Thick in booty, thighs, abs, and boobs. Invert and get a face full of boob. Nickname Cookie Monster (my booty eats shorts faster than he eats cookies). Love the way you are because if we all looked the same life would be so boring. Don’t let your size as you say stop you from any goal you wish to try. So go out and do it.

I’m 5’5″ and curvy. I stay right around 200lbs. Would I like it to be less? Sure. Am I ok with how it is? You bet! Pole has changed my life and really helped me be “ok in my own skin”. I’m also 52 years old and can’t imagine not doing this! I think one of the reasons why I love it so much is because I work really hard to get the moves and the strength…when I get something new I am absolutely over the moon about it. You will be too!! Welcome…and have fun!! Here’s a pic of me in the layback with my instructor standing! Anything is possible!!

I am a plus sized poler as well!! it was hard for the year I was in a studio for all the small girls to get moves instantly and it would take me weeks and it was because I had a lot more to lift/invert and what not. but pole is my LIFE and I am so addicted, I don’t care what people think of me and not being thin. one day I would like to compete but that will be a few years down the road! welcome to the pole family!

Marinebarbie.. thanks so much. It’s so hard to stay motivated when all you can do is a couple of basic moves. I’m waiting on some more grip that I ordered from here and I think will help ad well to. Lol you would think the sexy shoe stores and lingerie places for strippers would carry grip but they don’t here. Lol for now I’m trying to invert because I noticed that what all the good moves call for.

    Hey ambience!
Please, please, please be careful about inverting before you are strong enough!! I’ve seen more than enough people on this forum come back and say “I hurt my shoulder!” “I’ve injured my back!” “I can’t pole for more than six months because I’m in recovery!” And it’s all because they tried to invert too soon!
I realize that many of the more impressive moves appear to come from the basic invert, but there are SO many more things you can work on! Flow, expression, spins and climbing and laybacks all will help you gain strength, and they look so very beautiful! They are also all skills that are very useful after you learn to invert, as you may find yourself in the position to use them, inversions or not.

I’ve been working up toward my basic invert again, and I’ll probably be working on it later in the year. I was barely strong enough the last time I got it, and it was always fairly sloppy and difficult. I wasn’t really strong enough to do anything once upside down in that position, either. I know now- if I’m better able to trust my leg grip, and if I can trust my arms more, and have a better tolerance for pain (which does come), I’ll be way better equipped to invert.

Runemist.. I love you lady 😉 I’m being careful. Lol I’m definitely working on climbing without shoes on. I gotta get back to being sore in all the pressure spots anyways. I hope they send my grip soon tho. It doesn’t say how long it takes from Veena. 🙂
