  • Looking for a studio/instructor in the Antigonish, Nova Scotia area

Posted by devmcca9423 on January 8, 2015 at 9:31 pm

I recently moved to Antigonish from Ottawa. I have not been able to find a pole studio/instructor close by. Was wondering if anyone knew of any studio/instructors in or close to Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Not much help but the only one I could find in N.S was in Halifax. I am from Cape Breton and when I went home to visit family in the summer I barely survived without pole. Good luck, hope you find a place nearby!

Yes has been very difficult not being able to pole! I have been looking for a place and cannot find anything closer then Halifax either. Unfortunately it is a little to far to commute for regular classes. Thank you for your help!

My father’s family is from Antigonish and I am in no way surprised that there is nowhere to pole there! Growing up we used to call it Anti-ga-nowhere haha
You must be going to St FX? Any of my friends who went there really loved it!
I am from Wolfville in the Annapolis Valley, but lived in Halifax for 4 years before moving to Ontario…. and I can’t think of any pole studios outside of the Halifax area. But my friend owns Studio In Essence, which was the first studio to offer pole fitness classes in NS over 10 years ago, and she also has organized and hosted the Atlantic Regionals for CPFA the last couple of years, so she might know of any new places that have cropped up since I’ve moved 🙂

Unfortunately the only new places that have cropped up are in Dartmouth and Bedford – 🙁 Order a pole and do the lessons on here! It would save you $$ in the long run 🙂

Yes I am attending ST. FX it’s a great school in a nice little town, just missing a pole studio. I will check with Studio In Essence and see if they know of any new studios. 🙂 I will also look into getting a pole while I am here and taking some lessons off here. Thank you guys for all your help! 🙂

I teach at Trena’s Studio in Bedford (Trena Graham is the owner). I started 7.5 years ago there and love the atmosphere. We’ve had winners in Regional and National comps and offer sensual movement as well as the athletic side. It’s important to find a studio that works for you. There is a great studio in Moncton- Pink Fitness. The owner Michelle Cirullo is amazing and worth the drive. She trains with a number of USPDF pros on a regular basis. I’ve even gone there for training and without a doubt – she is worth the drive. Tell her Twila sent you! These 2 studios (Trena’s and Pink) are hosting this years Regional competition that feeds to the CPFA. Studio in Essence is downtown as LolaSlaytor mentioned above. Ready to Rumba is in Spryfield (Suzanne is the owner) and there’s also The Pole Studio in Charlottetown (Carole is the owner). I know that Lori mcCulloch (she won Atlantic Pro in 2012) is from Pictou, you could probably message her on FB to see if there’s anyone down that way too). Good luck!!

I trained at Pink while I was on Temporary Duty (military) in Moncton – amazing for sure! Michelle is a great teacher and very supportive of passions!

Thank you Twilight Starr for all the great info on the studios! They both sound like great studios I will have to try. 🙂 I have been trying to find a way to contact Lori mcCulloch and cannot find her on FB or elsewhere. Thanks Meggie it’s great to hear about the teachers at the studio. It is definitely to have a supportive teacher. 🙂
