Sabatoge in the pole dance community.
Posted by Casey Kill on May 24, 2013 at 1:49 pmSooooooo…..I posted yesterday about this competition that Im supposed to be competing in tonight. Well, that will not be happening anymore. I had called Dante's, (the place it was being held) and asked if it was open to everyone and not just studios. It was at the point that I had called. Well this so called friend posted on my facebook wall that is was closed to only studio members, which I am not a member to any of the studios out here. I called Dante's back to see if that was true, and no, it was still open to anyone. Well shortly after, Pole Fitness NorthWest had posted that they were using their poles, and that they were brass, which is where my last post here came from. Not too long after my conversation with so called "friend" PF NW commented back on Dante's status changing their mind all of a sudden out of the blue that it was closed to only studio members.
The reason Im so upset is because I know that this was my "friends" doing is because 1. Shes related to tina, the owner of PF NW.
2. She attends her studio. She was the one that told me of the competition 5 MONTHS AGO.
3. Countless people have warned me of her. I set those aside because I like to base my opinions and judgements on my own.
4. Shortly after she finds out I am actually going to compete, she posts on my wall saying its closed, I call them TWICE and it still is, and all of a sudden the night before the competition, PF NW suddenly changes her mind that its closed off?
This whole thing just really makes my blood boil. The pole dance community is soooooo supportive, no matter if your the competition or a random stranger you've never met. This is the EXACT reason I never want to be affiliated with a studio. The cattyness, theft of routines, the clique's and all out bullcrap is just something that shouldn't be happening when we are all working towards the same things. I worked my ass off to be ready to compete. And the night before it happens, this goes down, Im really quite blown away that these measures have been taken so she wouldnt have to compete against me. I know how that sounds, but if you knew this girl, and have jammed with her, you would know where I'm coming from.
Sorry for the rant. I need some advice.

I feel you on the whole cattyness and feeling betrayed by this person's actions, but I really don't have any advice to offer. Just try your best not to let it get you down, distance yourself from this person, and find a competition that will better suit your needs. You are fabulous, own that, and just try to forgive the byotches in the world. *hug*

I completly agree. My husband says rock out an amazing freestyle then post it on their pages. I like that idea, except maybe not post it on their page.
-
Yeah no need to feed into the cattyness with a revenge post (my husband would probably have said the same thing) I'm glad that you seem to get that and you seem to be able to handle yourself just fine. You just needed to get it out there and shake it off. Do you have video of the routine you had baked up?

Hey Casey, I am actually a student of Tina’s at PF Nw and would like to clear something up.
When Tina first asked the venue about this years competition she specifically asked them if it they wanted it open to the public, or just represented by local studios. They said they did not want the liability of people “walking in” and potentially injuring themselves, since they do not have any disclaimers written up. I understand you are self taught and very comfortable with your level of skill and tricks, but someone could just walk in and “want to give it a shot”, thus putting themselves in danger if they are not properly trained.
I think that there was a misunderstanding when “Tina’s relative” (she has no blood relatives at the studio or in the industry) told you that it was open to the public, and I am very sorry that you took the time to prepare for a competition that is closed to studios 🙁
In the future I suggest going straight to the source and calling the sponsor of the event, not the venue. They are really only hosting it, PF Nw is making it run.

yeah pole fitness is full of "injustices" like that…. and mean chicks too
-
I had called everyone. It was open to all right up until the night before the event? Just go read the status from dantes, look at the time, then go look at the post from my wall. And yes, she does have a relative, though she’s not blood as you presume.

Ok, is it me, or does that story not jive??
First MissPole, you stated that this Tina person (who i do not know) called the venue and asked THE VENUE if they wanted it open to the public. So you claim the VENUE chose not to have it open due to liability issues.
In your last paragraph, you tell CaseyKill to call the SPONSOR (who would be TINA) and ask, yet you stated that the Sponsor did not chose to close the competition.
Casey called the Venue, which in your story, was the one who closed the competition, why would they not tell her it was closed at the time of the call??
Plus, waivers dont take that long to draft, not to mention they dont hold up in court anyways.
On the other side, what is stopping someone from claiming they are from any other studio or that they are their own studio???
I just dont see the sense in the "rebuttal".

Let be careful about assuming, it sounds like a miscommunication. Casy, I can totally see why preparing for a competition and then finding out you're unable to participate would be so upsetting. It would be upsetting regardless of why it happened, and I'm sure not really knowing why, makes it even harder.
Maybe something fishy was going on, or it could be a misunderstanding. I hope you'll share your routine with us Casy, and try not to take it personally. I've found it's best to not waste our time on things of this nature. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Does sound a little strange and I would be upset as well but I wouldn't dwell on the issue, some things are better left alone. Enter another competition and rock the hell out of it! Would love to see the routine posted here 😉

I am most certainly going to share, possibly today if I can find my iTac lol. I worked way to hard and long to not at least show you ladies=] Does anyone know where I can find a list of upcoming comps??

Casey,
I ma not sure whom your talking about I have no family in this industry never have ?So a little confused as to whom is telling you that .As far as the contest goes I would of been more than happy to have you enter ! (you look amazing in your pict so y wouldnt I want you to enter?) It doesn"t make sense as you get to know the pole world we are all very supportive and always welcome new talent )I am the one that planned this event .I originally (from the start before I even made flyers)asked Dantes if we were going to be letting the public enter THEY SAID NO (OWNER) the person you talked to was just the door person and didnt know what was going on so they just assumed it was open as it has been in previous contests. This time for some reason ( maybe someone got hurt ) I am not sure but they said no public .You are not the only one we had to turn away .I don't want you to be discouraged or frustrated I am not Dante's just doing what I am told .So its a little frustrating to me that you would go on a social media website and slander not only me but my studio :(.I wish you would of just called me as I am the one that set up the event) I posted that it wasn't open to the public and then got a bunch of mean emails .There was definately a miscommunication with the Person answering the phone at Dantes ( I thought I was doing you a favor so you didn't waste your time preparing and driving up to lake city )I am self taught as well so I think its great!!!.I have nothing against you (whomever is telling they are related to me is lying to you (sad))So maybe before you slander and talk down on studios you need to know the FACTS before you just assume .I know we are doing another contest soon and hopefully ( depending on the venue it will be open to the public )I am more than happy to let you know .Again I am sorry for the miscommunication .If it was my bar I would let anyone do it .Please stop blaming me You need to blame the bar if anyone at all. As I posted you were more than welcome to come and watch maybe then you would of seen that it was the owner of the bar and not me .Some people try to hurt others cause they have nothing better to do it very unfortunate .I am sorry this happened to you
Thanks
Tina
Thank you

I’m all for studios sticking up for themselves in a miscommunication….but it doesn’t even look like you read anything she posted. Casey said word for word “not blood related as you presumed”. Secondly, I took this as the girl in question lying to Casey and Casey posting about that, not the girl convincing Tina to close it specifically to her. She wasn’t “slandering” the studio in any way, if anyone was slandered it was the friend-relative in question. Thirdly, coming on here and explaining the situation should be what you’re doing for your studio. But your post is so full of fallacies I’m actually more upset in the disrespect in your post than my initial reaction to opening post.
1) “I would be more than happy to let you enter.”
2) “you are not the only person we had to turn away.”
So are you inviting her or telling her no??3) telling someone “to get there facts straight ” only sabotages your own image. You basically just called her a liar when it had nothing to do with your studio.
I think we’ve leaned miscommunications are better handled in private.

Tina,
As businesses our most import function is to communicate with our customers, when communication fails our customers will take to other channels.
It seems to me that CaseyKill came here to vent when her attempts at communication failed. So essentially, she tried to "get her facts straight" however you didn't establish enough lines of communication or information dissemination to make sure that people are properly informed.
Is that a failure on your part? Of course not, it is a learning opportunity and a good business takes that as such, humbles themselves, makes right what they can, then promises to do better next time.
You are concerned about the damage done to your reputation by CaseyKill's rant? I think yours has probably done far more harm than Casey's.

AWWWW, I really hate this for you Casey… I have a BFF who just trained for the comp in Virginia and that consumed all of her time for months. I really hope you share your routine with us!! Maybe it's always been there, and maybe my eyes and ears are just becoming more open to it, but I hear and see so much animosity in the pole community. I'm all for healthy competition, but I've heard of some really ugly stuff going on, and people entering competitions at a lower level than the really should be… A lot of bashing of other people's style… Is really hurts me to see this. I almost reminds me of the nancy Kerrigan and tonya Harding crowbar thing 😐 I have my fingers crossed that a little pole envy does not ever turn into anything ugly in my new studio. There's plenty of pole love and attention to go around!

I really wish you guys would actually read the email before you respond .Nothing is hurting my reputation I happen to be a member of the PDA,USPDF AND THE PFA . I DIDNT MAKE THE RULES THE VENUE DID AND YES THEY TURNED AWAY ALOT OF PEOPLE ..I have been doing the pole for 24 yrs (before there was even an association for it and names for the tricks !!!) My reputation is great i have over 3000 students ..So again I ma sorry that the venue didnt want to be responsable why dont you slander them NOT ME !!!This is so childlike i am sorry but I am not going to let this waste anymore of my time 🙂 Again I AM SORRY !! If you want to do any contests locally and want to be in them just sign up with a studio 🙂
Keep up the poling !!!:)

LOL CapFeb! I read her responses and she is great!! I think at this point both parties are not going to be satisfied at the responses given, therefore someone should just take the high road and say sorry "politely" with no jabs, and let it go.
-
And webmaster, did you have to delete the 10 repeat posts or was there just a hiccup in the system…I just deleted at least 10 notifications from pfnorthwest posting on this. I mean, sure, my ipad gets hung up but geez…
Li was looking for chemgoddess, too, on this one 😉

And, once again, an organized pole event falls into general disarray due to miscommunication and venue bs. Been burned before by this type of nonsense myself and I really sympathize to those caught up in it. 🙁
-
All the problems are normal. Lines of communication fail, venues don't work out as expected, authority and judging is questioned, people get upset for justified or unjustified reasons.
The difference between a professional business and an amateur business is ultimately in how these things are handled.
-
Exactly. And that’s why I’ll never take part in another showcase again.
