Atlantic competition
Posted by PowerTwirl on January 13, 2013 at 2:30 pmHi Girls & Guys,
I was wondering who all from SV is going to be going or participating in the Atlantic competition/showcase from Pole Sport Organization? I have entered for the dramatic and showcase categories. I'm really nervous, even though I don't care what place I come in. Just wanted to participate and perform. I thought this competition was cool because there was no video entry requirement, you just sign up (until they have no more spots left). I know I'm going to stress myself out with this but I think it's a challenge I should try. Any other Veeners going to be there or have signed up to perform? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

I signed up for Entertainment level 2. I have a song and choreo in mind but I have to practice for it. But I know I have time and its only one routine.
-
I'm still hemming and hawing. I really want to enter but sadly am afraid I'll chicken out :-p

I put in for Championship level 1. I wanted to do champ and entertainment, but I think it'd be too much to get done, lol.
Plus, this way, I can work on learning a million new moves, teehee.

I’m not entering, but I will be there for sure! I think it will be a great event 🙂

i'm entering in L3 championship division. was debating on whether or not to compete in entertainment or championship but decided on the latter. no time to work on two programs! good luck everyone! looking forward to meeting other polers and veeners there!

I'm doing the Championship division… not sure what level to sign up for though. ( I put in 3 but asked about 2 and 4). I am also doing a showcase and asking someone to do a doubles routine! So, we'll see!

I have to say I am really excited for this comp. I love that there is different catagories, levels and ages. Its really a comp where ANYONE could compete. I think alot of the only way to compete is try audition for USPDF and thats a tough crowd to get into.

PowerTwirl: I have been known to throw in some amazingly classless moves to further the stereotype of us being strippers in disguise, lol. Most of Youtube has seen both nipples. At once. On purpose. God help the audience in VA.

well miss diva, if it's anything like your performance from Ryssa's halloween pole showcase, we're ALL in for a wild time!!! hahahahaha!

Don’t know if you’re joking around but(t) don’t go showing any gluteal fold! They want to keep this one pretty clean I think

Good to know, Jade! I actually wan't going to go that crazy, but I still need to keep myself in check. The crack will be hidden, but its spirit will be present for all the see.

I’m competing in Dramatic L2. I’m really excited to be part of the event, it’s going to be huge! I need to get more clarification though on the POCs….ie does one POC = both legs or one? Like with the superman. If each leg is one poc than it would be 3 and not 2.

I was wondering about the three points of contact too. The way I read it was that it applies to all inversions. An inversion is when your hips are higher than their shoulders, which isn’t the case in a superman, so I think that would be safe. I’m wondering about a cross ankle or knee release. It’s technically an inversion by their definition, but it’s not an overly advanced move.
I think I’m going to email them for more clarification. I don’t want to get disqualified for not understanding their rules!

Last year cross knee release was considered 3 point of contact but cross ankle was considered only 2.
