Powder coated
Posted by Chevelle90 on November 21, 2012 at 12:33 pmIs there any way to get a pole powder coated? I’ve heard of people getting them done even when the pole company doesn’t offer and was wondering who could do that?

What part of Ohio are you in? Basically just google powder coating and your city. It is a quite common service.
-
Well that was easy lol! Thank you chem. I live in mass right now but soon will be moving back home to Ohio around the Cincinnati area
-
There are quite a few girls on here from the Cinci area.

Yay! I won’t be alone! We have a small pole community where I’m at now but felt really uncomfortable with them. Hopefully when I move I’ll find some poling friends 🙂

Since you were asking about powder coating. I got my chrome 50 X-Pole powder coated last spring. So yes you can get it done. Mine was purple. There are pix on my page. Plus in the second thread, there is a linky that explains how powder coating works. I paid $65 for mine, which should be about the average price. Make sure to call around to get estimates.

Powder coat in my area was $125. I had a brass pole powder coated.

JeHanne, I thought u just got ur brass a while ago…..didn’t u like it?

I can have a pole in any color I like? MIND. BLOWN.
Does it drastically change the grip on the pole? If it's a less grippy pole, will this make it grippier, more slippery, no effect at all? Is this better for brass and stainless steel rather than chrome or TG?
So many possibilities!!!!!
-
This can be done over any type and will be super grippy!

Lyme,
I couldn't stand the brass smell. I am very sensitive to smells so I PC'd it. The extra grip and color was nice but then it was too grippy for me. I do a lot of drops and that's a no go for me on PC.

Oh, interesting! I had my first full workout today on my pole….now I am sitting here smelling my hands! Lol….. They smell a little metally, but I would go wash them, but nothing that bothers me. Powder coated is so grippy! I just took my lil Mynx down for now.
-
I'm hypersensitive to scents… I smelt brass all over after using it and during use too. Couldn't stand it. I hardly use it because PC is too grippy for the moves I like to do. Pole trial and error… 😉

What a good idea, I hate the smell of my skin after using brass pole, I can smell it on my skin even after a shower
-
@Kat; Yes my pole went from being very slippery to being very grippy, only drawback was sometimes I stuck too well. LOL! You will want to call around to the local powder coating places in your area and get estimates. They should have many colours to choose from and the stuff looks like mineral makeup almost. Yes! Ohhhh…the possibilities https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Powder coated is the only pole I know and therefore love. Am trying to decide between chrome and brass and was worried about brass smelling and chome not sticking. I think I’m tending to lean towards chrome as I dislike the smell of brass. I wondered if the smell was noticeable and after reading this thread, it seems that for some people it is. I am hypersensitive to smells, so I am sure now that it will bother me.
-
Thank you all for your input!! i have decided on getting my pole powder coated! Just hope it doesnt take long! Renster: I have chrome now and it work fine but if you have sweaty hands or feet or anything your slipping or often getting off to whipe it down. If it wasn’t for that being a big annoyance I’d love it! But if you are a sweaty or clamy type then I’d suggest sticking to the powder coat!

Yah Brass stinks. Not gonna lie there.. I sweat A LOT so I need brass.
I just take a shower after my pole session- which I would do after any form of exercise. Its not that bad unless force yourself to smell your hands during your session -
Laughed at your smell your hands comment. I don’t have to smell my hands to smell it, just sensitive and very perceptive with smells. I didn’t know before I bought brass it has such a distinct smell. It’s good there are many finishes to choose from, I just never thought smell would be in my criteria set.
-
i 100% agree with you. i never thought it would smell so bad until i put mine up and started practicing weekly =(
-
I like the smell!!! It smells coppery! FYI, for me brass is grabbiest than PC.

You can contact Gateway Powder Coating in St Louis, Mo. Ask for Nate, he has done various projects for me and my husband, I highly recommend his work! He has tons of different color choices and can powder coat anything metal.
