  • 500 mm pole extension still too long for 7ft ceiling

Posted by amandakm1 on November 10, 2012 at 1:03 pm

I recently bought a chrome xpert xpole. i was advised to get a 500mm pole extension as I only have a 7ft ceiling but I’ve tried to assemble it today and have found that the 500mm pole extension still too long for a 7ft ceiling. Am I doing something wrong? Please help! 🙁

Really??? My ceiling is also 7ft and I ordered the 500mm extension as well and it fits perfectly with the help of 2 othere extensions that came with it. Is your high adjuster screw on the A pole screwed all of the ways down?

The A pole is my extension pole right?.. If yes, then everything is as it should be.. What should the bottom of the pole look like? The A pole diesn’t come all the way to the base; there’s thin bit of pole between my A pole and the base (about half an inch of it).. Does this sound correct?.. x

make sure the bottom screws are out and try to get it down as far as possible. My pole has a very small space between A pole and the base.

Can you send me a picture.

Have rectified that problem. Getting really frustrated now-it’s still too long for my ceiling 🙁

Have you called xpole because you should beable to put it up. What are all the pieces your using? I know A pole and the 500mm but are there any others

The outside of the container will tell you the size of the extension or you can measure it.  The 750 is about 29.5 inches, the 500 is just under 20.

What pieces are you trying to put together?

A Pole is the bottom pole that has the adjuster cover and goes into the base.  B Pole is the first extension and it is about 3 feet long.

    The code is XX045CR-0050

Are you sure that it is 0050 and not 0500??

045 is a 45mm pole, CR is chrome and the last 4 digits should be the length in mm.  The extensions are in sleeves that are specifically cut to their size so it is impossible to fit a 750 mm extension into a 500 mm sleeve.

So basically: A Pole + dome is 48" totally collapsed.  The 500+250+125 adds 34.5" for a total of 82.5 inches.  Your ceiling is 84 inches.  There is no way this will not work unless you are not installing all of this correctly or do not have your A Pole totally collapsed.

That’s what’s on the tube that the extension came in. I can’t think of anything else to do. Everything else is perfect. Watched the You Tube video to make sure. But it just won’t fit to my ceiling.

I can't understand how the 1000mm(-ish) A-piece(the one with the adjuster) plus a 500mm extension (making total about 1500mm or approximately 5ft), can be too tall for a 7ft ceiling. unless there are other parts involved.

Just making sure you know NOT to use the B-piece (1000mm extension) that came with the pole.

That’s why I’m thinkin that the company I got it from sent me a 750mm instead of a 500mm by accident.

And no,not using the B pole. The entire pole almost fits the ceiling but it’s about an inch too long.

But the A-piece (1000mm-ish) plus 750mm extension makes 1750mm or about 5ft9", still nowhere near 7ft.

Can you re-measure your ceiling (in mm and in feet), and also measure all the pieces you have, and we can see exactly what the problem is.

Without using the 125mm extension,it fits my ceiling but then there is 12cm of the adjuster thread once I have fitted it to my ceiling and apparently u shouldn’t have so much adjuster thread? If that’s the case then I have to use the 125mm too but then from micro base to upper dome, the measurement is 82; just under 7ft but I cannot place the pole so that it actually fits my 7ft ceiling then! Is it ok to have so much of the adjuster thread out of Pole A?.. Have I been given so much crap advice about it and listened to it that it’s been makin me look like a complete idiot?!?!

*Sorry,u asked for the measurements of my ceiling in feet- it’s 6ft 10″ which is approximately 2082mm.

6'10" is NOT 7' and the A pole plus 125 plus 500 plus 250 will NOT fit…you will be 2 half inch too tall.

6'10" is 82 inches, the minimum distance that all of the pieces put together can go is 82.5 inches.  Did you measure the 500 mm piece?  Is it 20 inches or almost 30?

Remove the 125 mm piece and you should be fine.  The 125 mm piece is just under 5 inches, and the A pole will extend 5.5 inches total.

    Ceiling: 82 inches

    A pole  + dome : 48 inches to 53.5 inches

    250mm : 10 inches

    500mm : 20 inches

These three pieces will get you 78 to 83.5 inches.

Robyn, you cannot just take A pole into account.  There is also the base that adds a few inches and the dome which adds a few more.  The absolute MINIMUM that A + base + dome will compact to is 48 inches or about 1219 mm.

And the issue with the pole adjuster thread?

I know Chem, which is why I said "-ish", and I was just doing vague calculations… the measurements I was at were still a foot and a half away from the measurement we were after!

Amanda it's only a real problem to have a lot of adjuster out when your pole is tall. when you've got a short pole, there's a lot less flex, so the issue is minimised.
    I don't think you'd get a 100mm extension in the gap, so I wouldn't worry.
You can still use that very bottom bit of pole, just keep it clean, it can be greasy.
