I just moved into my new apartment yesterday so maybe in a week I’ll order my first pole which is gonna be an x-pole x-pert tg 45mm Im going to eventually order an chrome 45mm but with free shipping from veena can’t pass up such a good deal. My ceilings are exactly 9ft. I know out the box it goes up to 9ft but for stability reason do i need the 500mm extension just to be safe? If it helps i have carpet too its probably like an inch if that.

i decided to bump up my own thread i may be getting the pole this weekend but not sure. Does anybody have an answer for the extension? Also does anybody know if a stud finder works on popcorn ceilings?

I would probably call X-Pole and ask about the extension. The ceiling where I set up my pole is 9ft-1in approximately, and I got a 500mm extension. Sounds like if you have carpet you may want to get the extension because the pole (when installed properly) will compress the carpet and make the total height greater than 9ft.

A stud finder should work on popcorn ceilings. Instead of sliding the stud finder across the ceiling, perhaps you could try placing it against the ceiling, pulling it just slightly away, and then moving it? Otherwise if you do scrape some "popcorn" texture off the ceiling, it's an easy fix! Hardware stores have spray-on texture in a can.

9ft is really the limit as that height is with the adjuster fully extended (125mm 4.9"). The aim is always to have the minimum of aduster a) for stability and b) as it takes less time to put up as you will need to close the adjuster every time if you wish to put it in the carry case.

One other consideration is that it is also better to reduce the number of joints. Using a 500mm extension will mean only 2 joints as opposed to using 3.

Finally if you have 1" of carpet, which will compress, Chat couldmake it up to 150mm (5.9") of adjsuter. So we would strongly recommend using a 500mm extension.
