    Hi guys,

I'm new to the SV community and would like to say hi.

I recently moved to Canada, Ottawa area, from Amsterdam. I started poling there at the Rasa Lila studio. I started November 2011 and had 19 lessons. Before leaving Amsterdam I started getting the gemini and butterfly down. I really missed poling after coming here and ordered my own pole. I must say, not poling for 3 months set me back and I'm starting over with learning a lot of the moves I already had down. I love being able to pole whenever I want to. But I just miss poling with other girls. Somehow it pushes me further when you do it together.

Is someone out there that's in the Ottawa area and is interested in a new 'pole buddy'?

I do love the site and all the video's that everyone is posting! It's amazing to see that people all around the world share the same passion and love.

Hope to get better soon so I can start posting some vid's.

Evenings and weekends work for me too!

I must admit that I really have to get back in to it all and feel like I'm back to beginner mode.. Hope that's not a problem for you.

Hey I'm new too and I'm from Gatineau, however I'm not inverting yet! I hope you like Ottawa 🙂 Are you studying at OttawaU?

Actually, my school is in the Netherlands and I just have to write my bachelors thesis to finish it. So I'm doing that until November (hopefully I'll be done by then).

    How about you?

Oh wow, glad to not only see some Canadians on here, but some other Ottawaians!  I'm very new to this sport (so far just finished level one at Ottawa Pole Fitness), so I probably would be of no use as a practice buddy.   But I loved pole dancing so much aft er that first course that I recently bought a pole from this site.  The plan is to practice a bit to build up some strength before taking level 2.  Anyway, just couldn't resist saying hi and that I'm glad to see some pole-neighbours on here!   🙂

Hi ladies! If you are interested, we have a pole dance meetup group in Kanata. The last meetup we did, we had around 10-15 girls from the Ottawa area come out to play!

    Hi MissFit,
I'm actually member of the meetup. Joined very recently and wasn't able to come to the photoshoot. I'm waiting for another polejam to come up. Would love to meet some more enthousiast.

Amasou, just meeting with other people and having them help you is very helpfull I think. I loved going to Polejams in Amsterdam. Girls that where much better then me helped me with different spins, holds and transitions.
So I can't wait to start doing that over here again.

My only handicap here is that I have very low ceilings. So I can climb, but I'm at the top straight away haha. So I have to be a bit creative while trying inverts.

    Hello ladies!

I'm from Ottawa-Gatineau as well! Welcome to the neighbourhood! There are great places to practice pole here and a great community too! Kanata is a little far for me because I don't have a car  🙁 but I would love to meet up and practice with you guys once in a while! I live right next to the civilisation museum and have a pole at my place. It's not much, but if any of you want a practice buddy, I'd be happy to host practice sessions at my place! 🙂 Also, if you guys want to try out a studio, let me know, some of them have tall poles and high ceilings!

    Cheers!

    Hi akene_neko!

Thank you! It sounds like a great idea to me. I would love to have a practice session at your place. Just let me know when and where exactly and I'll come definitely! I know that TreePoles was in for a session too!

And also, I do have a car. So if there would be a jam in Kanata I would have no problem taking you with me. Or other ladies from our area as well for that matter 🙂

Hello and welcome to the site!!  You may also like to try out Friday chat day to meet some new pole buddies. It's every Friday all day long and it's the day when the chat room has the most people in it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

    Hello Sarah!

That's awesome! We can definitely start whenever you want and any other lady interested is more than welcomed to come as well!

You are too nice to offer me a ride to Kanata! I can't promise I would go everytime, but I will definitely take you up on that offer and try to go there at least once in a while!

I practice on average 3-4 times a week, usually on Tuesday and Fridays (around 4-5pm) at my place, but I can do it most of the other days. I would consider myself to be at an intermediate-almost advanced level so I will be happy to help you as much as I can.

If you are interested, we can start the workout either this week-end or next week. Just let me know what day is best for you.  TreePoles, the invitation extends to you as well! 🙂

The only thing is that I have to cats. they would not be in the room with us, but in case you are allergic, I'd rather you know.

    Cheers!

I have no idea how a pole jam works (is it BYOP?  Bring-your-own-pole?) but I would love to join in if no one minds having a newbie (1st level pole and no previous dance experience) practicing with you!  🙂  I will have to look up that meet up group and get myself out and involved.  I live in the west end of downtown, but I have a car and can carpool if anyone needs.  🙂

    Hi amasou!

You are more than welcomed to come practice as well! The level does not matter. I am more than happy to help and it's always fun to see what others can do and work with others to get inspired! You don't have to bring your pole, my place only has enough space for one, so we can just share the pole. I have a 50mm X-pole, hope that works! 🙂

Next week sounds good to me! Whatever day is convenient for you. Im available on Tuesdays, so just let me know at what time exactly. I do love cats!!! So no problem there.
Would you like me to bring something?
At home I have a 45mm chrome so I think the 50 will work perfectly. Im sure I will get in to it fast. 🙂

The transition from 45mm to 50mm is not too bad, I did it myself for a special event where they only had 45mm and it was ok. The spins are easier on the smaller pole, but the grip is better on the 50 mm pole, for me anyway. I also have lots of grip (mighty grip powder) if you need it.

Let's make it for next Tuesday then. I will let confirm via text and e-mail. Anyone interested, let me know! 🙂

    Cheers!

I'm game to meet up this coming Tuesday evening the only thing is I work till 5:00 then the traffic at that time can be silly.  What time and is the first jam going to be and is it going to be at your place @akaneka?

I live right near the Carlingwood Mall, west end Ottawa if anyone needs a ride? I also have pole mates that I can bring and please let me know what kind of refreshment/snack to bring as well.

Please feel free to email/inbox me for my cell number so we can chat and work details out (:

Thank you so much SarahA for making this all happen!!!

    Hi TreePoles!

Yes the practice would be at my place. Small but quiet and accessible! I have one pole, but no mat, you can bring one if you want! 🙂 As for snacks and refereshments, you can bring anything you want but no need if you don't want to. I recommend not to eat too much while practicing… I don't know about you, but it makes it hard for me to flip upside down after eating LOL.

I'll be bringing some refreshment too. Maybe a tiny light snack so we don't practice with an empty stomach either.

So what time would be best to meet up? I'll let you ladies decide since I will be available at any time.

Looking forward to meeting everyone and have a nice jam session 🙂
