I can’t open the link – is this the wrist sit?

It's also known as the Tailpipe…and you need to have lots of bum skin available! 😀

thecammy – It's like the wrist seat, but your hands are up high on the pole, no hand is under the tush.

Sarah – I tried jamming my shorts up my booty and STILL couldn't get it. I feel like I'm missing something.

The trick for me was to REALLY lean back from the pole, and actually squeeze the butt cheeks! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Okay, I'll try the tush squeeze. Thanks!

Try to think of it as your butt cheeks holding you on!

Ugh…just realized that the second thread was regarding the one where you are not touching the pole with your butt at all.

For this it is easier for me to get into it coming out of a release.  Your hands have to be really close to your cootch and it is more of your tailbone on the pole than side of the cooch like wrist seat.  You really have to have your back rounded.

I've tried it from a sort of half-CKR (just leaning back.)

I could never get this until a new instructor told me to REALLY engage my abs when I did it (it's a huge core strength thing which I never picked up on before)…it also helps to tuck your knees into your chest and then extend them out so you get a full straddle 🙂

you need to scoop your hips under so that your BUTT is on the pole, and have your upper body/torso nearly horizontal, and your arms are PULLING your butt/body into the pole (with your shoulders down and engaged), so that your weight is coming in perpendicular to the pole rather then dropping down. it's the same principle as the wrist seat (http://aerialamy.com/blog/2012/04/05/thursday-tips-wrist-seat/). if you don't pull with your arms, your weight will make you just slide right down. think of trying to round your back and hips so much, and pull so hard, that you're trying to get your butt to slide UP the pole.

i dont mean to contradict anyone but you dont need to have any skin showing on your butt if you have the weight distributed correctly!

and- same as wrist seat– bring your knees in first, and then open out– it will help you to maintain the right tilt in your hips. engaging core will help you to keep the right orientation in your hips!

Okay. Thanks guys. I may try it again tomorrow. My ab strength might not be up for it yet.

Sorry for giving the wrong information, Amy…and thanks for correcting me. I have never been able to do this particular move without skin contact…just like I've never been able to manage a proper pole sit or climb with pants on.  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

wait a minute… sarah… how do you actually get skin contact doing this move? whenever I'm doing it, I've literally got my BUTT on the pole, really almost my tailbone, and even if i were to hike my shorts up SUPER i still wouldn't have any skin on the pole, i don't think. is my butt just the right shape to hug the pole on either side? haha.

I would guess that she's placing the pole farther out, closer to the thigh….this is how I also do it. Closer to the thigh is safer if you slip!! eek https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

I do this move in one of my spin pole videos. I have to pull my shorts up all the way to do this one. Then I just pull them back up. LOL! I slide when trying it with my shorts normal.

Thanks for bringing this topic up…and thanks for all the great tips. When I saw it on Felix’s adv video, I tried ut once, but then I was too afraid of hurting myself. I’ll try it again.

Felix is freaky flexible though…her legs go so far back that the leverage is really helping her stay in the move.

I realized I have this move at the end of the Booty challenge you'll get a good look at it….I decided to throw it in last minute so its not pretty but you'll be able to see where I put the pole.

It looks like you do it on one butt cheek, V!

I confess my older daughter showed me this one and she has thew pole placed between her 2 butt cheeks, with skin of both gripping the pole. Perhaps that is why I was doing it wrong, because I was doing it her way…

yep, I always play it safe and go for ONE butt cheek.
