Anyone here use a heart rate monitor??? Any recommedations on a good one that I can use while poling (that won't touch my pole and scratch it??) I'm thinking I should get one to help in my weight loss endeavors.

I looking for a good heart rate monitor too. Endomondo has a nice store for them, but I would love to see if any of the ladies or gents have positive or negative results with one, especially when poling. Thanks for starting this topic sensualcimitar.

I bought a cheapie one from walmart by sportsline Unfortunately it doesn't ask for weight, but it does ask age and sex. It gets my heartrate okay, although sometimes it takes a few attempts. I think it overestimates my calorie consumption. I started using this website in addition to the watch. I write down my heart rates during exercise and average them for the site. http://www.braydenwm.com/calburn.htm

I have a Polar with a chest strap the monitor tucks easily under the sports bra/top and then I put the watch (receiver) on the ledge next to my pole.  As I tried this a few weeks ago I realized my batteries were dead.  Haven't replaced them yet.  But Polar is one of the leaders it also asks for weight, which can make a big difference on how many calories are burned.
