one arm climb??
Posted by Krista Bocko on February 2, 2012 at 6:41 pmI swear I saw a video recently where the dancer did a climb with her legs in a V and pulled herself up, hand over hand, never gripping with her legs. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif
Of course, I tried it, and can't understand HOW. I can't even let go with one hand, let alone pull UP. Do you have to be superhuman? Have suction cups? I swear, it's NOT possible. LOL!
Do you know what I'm talking about? Who else can do this move?!?!

I can't find the video, but I'm pretty sure I saw blondebird do this move! But only because she's superhuman.

Is that the scissor climb do u mean? theres a lesson on here i think and Jess leanne Norris also does it 🙂
-
Yes, the no legs climb…I said one arm b/c of that moment when you’re going hand over hand. I just can’t get over it…amazing!!
-

A good start to the double no leg climb is the Scissor Climb. https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/18f06262-b91f-11df-856f-001b214581be

C’mon Sparrow, I can do this so I KNOW that you are strong enough to do it!
-
OK, Rikki, if you think I can! Can I just say that my pole was slippery? Yeah, that was it! LOL.
-
I saw those guns you’re sporting! Must have been the slippery pole. 😉
-
You have to get a good hand over hand rhythm going so that u aren’t hanging off each arm too long. The hardest part is holding your legs out in the v. I started working on it with my legs straight down first and then started progressing to lifting them out in front.
-
Hey Rikki, yep, love these guns. Lol. Ps, have fun at the workshop this weekend!
-
Thanks for the tip, hells bells. Can’t wait to try again…

it's not THAT hard, if you can do a pull up. just don't reach up too high when you start, and you'll find it much easier 🙂 i covered it in my tuesday tips for upper body conditioning, if you're curious!

great incentive! tried it today too (and posted). Anybody know what it's called??

^ "No legs" climb or "Arms only" climb. I just tried it too and actually kept a steady even V, but bobbing up and down too much. LOL!!! Now my biceps are throbbinggg. Tried 4 times… instead of getting smoother, just struggled worse. Hahahaha

My pole guru calls it a ninja climb. I think I kind of did it once….. I’m pretty sure my legs were flailing about in a most ungraceful fashion.
-
I did it! I think one of my attempts I started from a sit. I was able to do three hand-over-hands. I was happy with that, but so exhausted I couldn't imagine incorporating that into a freestyle, I was done! Ha.
Amy, off to check out your blog post about it!

ARgh! My left arm is sooo much weaker than my right arm! Been tryin to do one handed assisted pull ups to try to strengthen it!
