Got one of my dream moves!
Posted by Shellectra on March 13, 2011 at 7:35 amHey guys! I just wanted to share my excitement!! I have a few "dream moves" that I put on a pedestal of "may not ever get" when I started poling late last year. Straight edge with body away from the pole was one of them. Well guess what I did tonight!! And I held it with steady core strength for 5 seconds, which felt amazing!!! it felt strong and balanced, and I dismounted neatly whohoo. I am pumped! I can't do elbow grip yet which is depressing me, but glad I got this in forearm grip at least 🙂
Now to one day get my other dream moves.. the carthweel mount and handspring mount, so far I think I will NEVER get these 🙁

That's so great, congratulations on that power-move, I think it looks amazing!https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Good luck on learning the handsprings-you definitely got the strenght+ balance for them!

That is GORGEOUS! Great job – it really looks so good. You'll be onto the mounts before you know it – just keep at it!https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Congrats! Straight edge/ aysha seems to be a real milestone move. Good luck on the handspring and cartwheel mounts – I'm working on them too, and look forward to the video when you finally get them 🙂

Ooo congratulations! I bet you're very proud!
I'm in a rut atm so it's really good to hear you've had a breakthrough, just got to wait for mine! =p

Thankyou SO much guys! I didn't expect so many responses, what a lovely feeling 🙂 I don't take pole lessons or have local pole buddies so you guys are the only pole family I have!
ps if anyone wants me to black out the background of a pole photo of theirs you can inbox me, I love doing it! 🙂

Rephrase… I don't take any LOCAL pole lessons.. my learnings are all thanks to veenas lessons 🙂

Congrats!!! It looks great! How exciting for you. I'm sure you'll master the elbow grip at some point – I can do a fairly decent elbow grip but can't do the forearm! I tried the other day and fell right out of it!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif It seems so much harder than the elbow grip to me. It's weird how we're opposite!

Wow isn't it funny!! I feel with the forearm grip having both hands gripping the pole gives me safe hold of the pole and allows me to move off it and out, but in elbow grip there doesn't seem to be much 'grip' in the elbow and the lower arm takes all the weight and I just slip off… oh and I end up with MAJOR bruises on my inner upper arm LOL. I'll work on it though cos I think elbow grip looks better!!

Lovely move, congrats!! I've just started getting the elbow-grip Aysha and Straighte-edge, but I can't do the forearm grip at all…and my body waves even on the ground are awful. *LOL* I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on the cartwheel and handspring mounts, since I'm working on them too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

BEAUTIFUL!!! And YES we are your family so thanks for sharing one of your dreams! HUGS!

Yay!!! Your alignment looks great! Don't worry about the moves you don't have yet! Remember to savor these moments and be sooooo proud (as you can see we are alll very proud)!

Thanks, I wouldn't be poling without the support of this site, and all it has to offer, including all of us supporting each other! I log on every day and it motivates me 🙂
Very true Jess – I need to make the most of what I can do and remember it would be boring if I could do every trick right now, cos there would be no dream moves or anything to aim for! So having challenges and tricks I can't do yet should be a positive, thanks for putting my mind back on track 🙂

I can do this in an elbow grip now, and I find it easier than forearm grip, go figure! lol. As soon as I caterpillar up I feel heavy in this position, so I quickly then hook the elbow around and push out and as soon as my legs are off I feel more lighter and comfortable than I did in caterpillar, odd!!
Another version but facing a bit differently

I got another exciting move today!! TG Aysha!! I can hold it for ages, way longer than elbow grip, and my body is so still it's scary lol. Hubby was able to get lots of pics in a row and he said are you ok or frozen lol! I get into it from an invert, no way I'm jumping or jerking into a "TG" move
