I get really twisted up when I try to do this spin – I can put myself into the position (opposite elbow and leg hooked around pole with other arm and leg extended) and push off with my foot and I theoretically know the steps to get into the spin, but I'm at a loss when it comes to going from the steps leading into it to actually doing the spin without setting myself up in the position first – I think the biggest problem is bringing up the leg that hooks around the pole (which is the same foot you rotate on to get into the spin right?).  Maybe I'm using the hooked leg to support too much of my weight and that's why I can't bring it up?

    Tips/tutorial please!

I don't know of a tutorial, but this video shows a good way to get into it:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmleOX116Pg

I would also love a proper tutorial on "The Roxy!"

I've seen lots of people do it, but unfortunately, I can't seem to figure it out. I get all tangled and screwed up…it's so frustrating!

I know of someone who used to have one posted.  She had some issues with someone and took all her tutorials down, but I'm sure if you ask her, she will email it to you.

Look for her on facebook:  Lola Poledancer

I LOVE the Roxy!  It is so pretty, and I too get tangled up every time I try it.  maybe I should try to get in touch with lola poledancer, too.

That is probably the closest there is to a tutorial…..

I'm going to "try" to explain how to get into the roxy (for a spinning pole). But first you have to be familiar with the half spin or "swoop" and "elbow pirouette" as I like to call it. The half spin is basically letting your outside leg swoop halfway around the pole, and placing back on the floor–near where you started. i'm going to explain as if you are doing this on your right side. Right hand being inside hand, and left being outside. As your outside (left) foot is coming back down to the floor out of the half spin, your left elbow is going to hook onto the pole–so now your body is facing backwards. Switch your weight to your right foot and turn your chest outwards and grab the pole below and behind you with your right hand. here's the tricky part. as you grab behind with your right hand, your your left leg will swing in front as your right leg will naturally hook around the pole as you're twisting your body outwards. It feels weird and you really need to be stretched out for it especially in your shoulders, pecs and hips. I have yet figured out a way to come out of it gracefully though. hahaha. Hope this helps. 😛
