Just had my baby 2 weeks ago how long till I can pole again?
Posted by tialee on September 8, 2010 at 9:27 pmHas anyone had a csection and then got back on the pole? I have seen Veenas old vids on utube that are 3 weeks out but I am guessing by the way she is moving that is was not a c section??? This is our 5th child but my first Csection. I will wait till I see my Dr. but just wondering if anyone has been in the same situation and how long you had to wait?

I did not have a C section and it was a very easy birth. You need to WAIT!!!!!…. to start poling or do any ab work until you have spoken with your Doctor. Most Doctors will not understand how heavily we use our core in pole and may give you the go too soon!! So be very clear that this is strenuous and much like rock climbing and gymnastics (to give an idea of level of stress on the body) Don’t rush a C section. You’ll be back on the pole in no time Talk with your DR and most importantly listen to your body https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Thanks Veena, I was watching your postpartum vids and thinking how in the heck is she doing that 3 weeks out! It hurt my stomach just watching you! I guess I should really take my time and wait. If my dh see’s me working out too soon he will stop doing all the cleaning and running the kids everywhere lol. No but really I am still in so much pain I just really miss working out and dancing so much that I can’t wait to get back on the pole. I guess I will just keep staring at my sweet baby to keep busy https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I had a c-section 5 months ago and I’m just now starting to get back into it. I was advised by my doctor to not even do any exercises that involve the stomach muscles for a minimum of 12 weeks, and after that to take it very slowly. It definitely felt very odd when I did start attempting a few spins and I couldn’t do much before I felt sore, but it’s slowly starting to get easier and the strength is coming back. I would be very careful since a c-section is major surgery and those muscles need plenty of time to heal. The most frustrating part for me has been the long wait and feeling how much weaker my abs are and trying to build them back up.

First off, congrats on the new LO.
Im a 2-time c section mom. I had my 1st csect before I poled and the 2nd one after I started. My dr had told me no exercise for 6weeks after birth, which I think is pretty much the norm. I couldnt wait until my 6w were up, I was dying to get back on the pole. It had been almost a year since I got back. I will have to say that I felt like I had re learn alot since I lost alot of strength during my hiatus. Make sure you get to ok from your OB, like everyone said its a major surgery and they are cutting into your abdomen. Ease into poling, its gonna take a few attempts but your body will have its aha moment and let you do what you used to do.
My abs are much stronger than they used to be!
