does anyone own a pair of clear topped shoes?
i want to get a pair of clear shoes but most of the ones i’m finding also have clear tops and i’ve heard those can cut up your feet and i definitely dont want that. does anyone have a pair that they like? im also looking at light up shoes which i know are definitely more form than function but i probably need those too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I have a pair, and though they don’t fit (I’m a size ten, these are a half size too small) I have no problems with the clear plastic top. I think it all depends on how they’re put together, the quality of the make, ect. Mine are slingback, so the plastic actually wraps around the outside of my foot, as well as the toe and the back. Comfortable enough! Now, if I could just get the base to be a little wider, I’d be more than happy! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

I have clear Ellies and LOVE them! Thet r my old faithful practice shoes. They are the Ellie Brook 6 in. They have never cut me. Then I also have a pair of light up pleasers in pink lights! I will show you both!

They are actually brighter than you would think!!!! I will do a mini clip in them tonight!!!! I love them! The pic doesn’t do the lights justice.

The chrome heels I have are Ellies and have clear tops, they have never hurt or dug into my skin, the plastic seems to be soft enough not to. The Ellies do seem narrow, which is what I need, I’m not sure how they work with wide feet. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_safesex.gif

I have these and I will tell you that they suck for pole dancing. I had them in Ellies and they were HUGE. Got them in Pleasers and there is no support around you foot for landing any move. They are great if you are looking just for show as they do not give you the squished toe look that the other ones do but that is about it.

If you do get clear, make sure it has a thin metal "rod" in the heel. Its barely noticeable. Those type of heels can break easier https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_pale.gif and the metal rod will prevent you from hurting yourself as bad.

ChemGoddess, I am SO glad you posted that, because that was literally going to be my next shoe buy. I love the look of those! However, if I can’t pole in them, they aren’t worth it to me. Bummer.

They are hot shoes but I have twisted my ankle more than once landing in them.

i have a pair of clear ellies that i use as well, but the heel is silver so you cant actually see the metal rod inside at all, i bought them at the studio i used to go to and i think they are wonderful. i bought them a size too small and after about 3 sessions the plastic is stretched enough that they dont cut into my feet or hurt at all, breaking them in though did hurt my toes a tad but nothing unbearable.

that is always my suggestion when getting those shoes. I didnt know that the first time I took pole and my first pair of shoes where stretched to shreds b/c i wore them out. I have a new pair w/o the ankle straps, I got them a size down. They are still snug but after a few more times on the pole, I should be good to go!

The most stable straps are going to be like the two pair Luvlee posted, were there is a single strap on the sides of the ankle coming up to an ankle strap.
Straps that cross in the front OR in the back and the wrap are not going to hold securely onto your ankle as the crossed straps will slide back and forth. Even the ones with a strap straight up from the back of the heel or crossing behind the heel and then wrapping around the ankle will slip to the side.
I have the Ellie light ups and love them…I have average width feet and usually order a half size or even a full size up. The plastic has never been a problem and I’ve never broken a heel yet. But I have had multple pairs that I had to return due to non-functioning lights upon receiving them!!!
The light ups are great too if you can access the battery compartment (most Ellies you can) as you can always turn the lights off if you don’t want to use them and you basically have two different styled shoes in one.

OMG I have those too and I totally agree. They were originally purchased for "bedroom" fun but when I got my pole I tried dancing in them and hell no! They are only made for show LOL.

Glitterhips… I got Ellie clears today but my favorite fitting dance shoe is Tabu Footwear. They feature clear plastic and I have found that brand to be the most comfortable. I did not see any light up shoes in their catalog though so I tried Ellie. I hope you find the perfect pair!

Sounds to me like the batteries are damn near dead. Mine, blink in the closet when I walk across the floor. If you have to thump them…..they aren't working properly.
You have 2 choices…..take them back and request a pair with fresher batteries…..or buy the watch batteries and replace them yourself.
Personally, if I bought a pair of blinky shoes that didn't blink cuz the batteries were damn near dead on a new pair of shoes….I would take them back.
As I said….mine a SUPER sensitive…..they blink when up on the shelf….and all I do is open the closet door/or walk in.
I have to pull the batteries from mine or they add additional—-ahem—-mood lighting in the background if there is any….ahem….action going on. LOL…I am serious!

So….In short……….if mine are that sensitive with fresh batteries(I just replaced mine a few weeks ago) yours shouldn't have to be thumped on……

I would say call whomever your purchased them from and let them know the batteries are barely working – that they only light occasionally (which is the same thing you are describing too) and they will likely find it easier to ship new batteries from Ellie than to pay to return your shoes.

Thank you for the tips re the batteries Empyrean and Reenie, that makes perfect sense that the batteries are drained! I will replace the batteries. Since that is something I will eventually need to do, it will be good practice. Bring on the 'mood lighting' … woo hoo!!! LOL!
