USPDF After-Party
Hey y’all,
Poletential is sponsoring a USPDF after-party at 420 Bar & Lounge from 9:30-midnight after the pro division competition. The venue is located at 420 Amsterdam Ave, between 80th and 81st Streets. You can take a cab or take the train. It’s not far since Symphony Space is on 96th Street.
Tickets are $5 when you purchase them at Symphony Space, and $10 at 420 Bar & Lounge. There will be light food, cash bar, and a pole or two to play on. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Hey Foxy_Rei,
I was on the USPDF website and noticed the link right under the "Buy Tickets" link in the Competition tab. From the info on the site, it sounds like there will be an area at Symphony Space where we will be able to purchase the $5 tickets. Most likely, you’ll pay the $10 at the door at the actual after-party if you choose to buy your ticket later.
I’m really excited about it! I didn’t go to the after-party last year (I think it was somewhere near where the competition was held), and I’ve already mentioned it to students at my current studio as well as some old pole friends from my first studio that are coming up for the competition.

Pam is co-owner of Poletential and has been an event planner for years. Poletential knows how to throw a party so I’m really excited that we are sponsering the after-party! For anyone who was dissapointed with the East and West coast after-parties (no offense to the ladies who put those on), you will not be dissapointed this time around!!!

420 lounge is a great place and there’s an EXCELLENT cuban place next door! I didn’t realize there was an after-party til now- that sounds exciting… I may have to go check it out!! Can’t wait until Nationals!

Don’t be nervous. NY rocks.
And as for shopping, a few tips for you:
Comfy shoes. You’re gonna walk your ass off.
A warm coat, could be freezing.
A bag to carry your heels and pole clothes in for workshops. We got Poletential backpacks last year and they were perfect.
NY isn’t terribly casual. I’d rather be overdressed there than underdressed, anyday.xoxo Ellen (aka Sophie aka ottersocks)

It most likely will be. I live further upstate in NY and temps have been in the 30s for the last few days, so I don’t imagine it will change dramatically in the next 3 weeks. We don’t usually see light jacket-type weather until April at the earliest.

Yes, I meant getting from place to place. For healthy people (provided it isn’t -30 and snowing), walking is a great way to cover most of the city. We’re staying about 16 blocks from the NYPD studio for example, so will likely walk to and from workshops.
There’s always subway, but still walking a bit to get to and from stops.
For you, I’d plan on taking a lot of taxis door to door. As amyxshi said, driving is essentially not an option.

hi! totally new to all these festivities going on< never been to New York either, would any of you be able to recommend a hotel to stay at? I am hoping someone can give me some ideas, for I do not have a clue about any places around that area to stay at. I am traveling with the hubby.
