How old were you when you discovered pole dance?
Posted by polergirl on January 1, 2010 at 3:31 amI was 38….which, coincidentally, is my current age. I am having so much fun with it but certainly lack some of the, errrr, bendiness I had once upon a time as a young pup, and getting it back is proving to be a LOT of work! Oh, how I wish I’d discovered the joys of the pole in my 20s. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif

Started poling just over 1.5 years ago although I’d been interested in trying it for over 5 years. I was 31 when I started.

I installed my pole 2 years ago…so 38. But barely still 38 as my b-day is in January.
I am also having the same bendiness issues.

I was 33 and have been doing it for almost a year – wish I had started earlier but love that I’ve got many years ahead with it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I started poling when I was 42 but that was just playing around on the pole when I was out with friends. I started more serious training when I was 44. That was nearly 6 years ago…I’ll be 50 in May!

I first discovered pole dance when i was 16, im now 18, i turned 18 in august and finally got my pole in october, so iv been poling for around 3/4 months https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif And loving every bit of it, i have a friend who has been doing it a little longer than me and a few bars around where i live and were we go ‘clubbing’ have poles in them so its always a laugh to show our moves to others and teach other people simple moves, a few of them went off wanting to join lessons so thats always good too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif All of my friends who have tried my pole have instantly wanted one haha https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Chem, my birthday is January as well! Yeah, Capricorn https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I discovered (as in, danced on my first pole) it around the age of…err, 21? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif Perhaps 20. I don’t remember well because it was a very tremulous time of my life, lots of moving and trying to figure out what I was doing. However, I’m pretty sure I moved out the first time right before I turned 20, because my husband and I have been together for 4 years now, and we got together right after I moved out. And then he and I got a place together… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gifYep, I was 20! Which means I have been trying to pole dance for about 3 and a half years now! Wow! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
I still haven’t gotten inversions, and my pole and I have our in-and-out of love, but I think it’s getting better now. I certainly find I can think better when I pole lots! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gifI think it’s great that all you older ladies didn’t balk at doing something like this (and no, I don’t mean "older" as in you’re old, just older than me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif) and are still going for it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Flexibility isn’t one of those things you always have young…I’m finding I screwed up my muscles something fierce for most of my highschool years, and even a bit before that, so I’ve gotta work hard to get them back in order!

I was 44 when I started pole dancing 2 and one half years ago. I LOVE it!!

Wish I could say it was when I was 18/19….. I did try to do a cross knee release once as a waitress when I was 23 and I also learned fireman spin and princess spin.. but then I didn’t do anything again until I turned 26, 2 years ago.

I got hooked by my first-and only to date-visit to a strip club at 18. The girls were doing fairly simple tricks now that I look back on it, but with the flawless transitions and floorwork, not to mention the pure sex factor of eye contact that I could never ever master, I was mesmerized. I went home and found tarakarina on yt, and it was then I discovered she poles to deal with anxiety. That started an obsession with pole. But I didn’t get my xpole until September of 09. I’m 21 now, so it’s been a 3 year obsession. I only wish I’d gotten my pole sooner because it’s the best thing I’ve ever dine for myself. I had no adult sexual identity until I found pole. I’d completely shut that part of myself off. But you can’t avoid your own sexiness dancing in front of a mirror on a pole in 6" heels!

Hey I was 28. Been off and on with this but am now 41 and sticking with it. The bendiness will come it just takes time and effort. Hang in there, next thing you know, you’ll wake up and try something and be like omg I did it.

I was 28 when I discovered pole. I’m turning 30 in just over a week! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I’m just so pleased I found something so so god for me and so enjoyable as well. I like exercise but never found anything interesting enough to stick with until this, so I was delighted!

I was 36 when I started. Luckily I was already in great condition from 20 years of consistant exercise. I just turned 39 and I have no intentions of ‘retiring’ any time soon!

Hey I’m a capricorn too https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif and have been poling for about 6months so started at 21 and a half. (That half is very important https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif) I started at one lesson a week and after week one upped it too 3 a week, pole adiction set in quick lol. I was very luck and got my own pole about 3months after i started and was the best thing I’ve ever bought https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif As for flexibility I’m not very bendy but I’ll get there https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I was 23 when I first discovered pole dance. Me and my friends went along to a strip club for a laugh and I was mesmerised by the amazing pole performances I saw. (To be honest it was prob not that amazing but to someone who had never seen a proper pole dance before it was!) A few months after that I found pole classes and was hooked……I’m now 28 and have been poling on and off for about 5years. I danced in a few clubs myself, stopped and did more lessons at other pole schools. I now teach myself. Its crazy to think how pole dancing has changed so much in those 5 years. When I started there was hardly any pole schools, and I didn’t dare tell anyone my little hobbie. Now its soooo popular and quickly becoming the most popular way to get fit and I love it!!
-
started pole classes last year aged 49 still going strong now aged 50 but love it. wish it had been around when i was younger with more courage and more flexability. can do inverts and did shoulder lift but then lost it. working on knee hold now.
