Pole Comp – I won yaaay

fluffed a couple of moves (in retrospect I probably shouldn’t have attempted the jade having only tried it 2 days before), and noone wiped down the spinny pole from the girl before me (you can see the girl jumps in at the end to try and clean it before I start using it!), so as soon as I gripped I slid down like butter Was a shame as I had an awesome ext butterfly combo that I’d been practicing for ages, just couldn’t get the grip https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif
Anyhoo a big thankyou to ROXY yaaayyy, I borrowed your ‘roxy; spin – much more impressive than my original front hook (even though I almost slipped whoops)!
also to the awesome pole tickles who was in the comp as well, she got some crazy strong tricks goin on flipping about all over the place https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif We rocked those instructors haha!
My instructor was stoked, all three categories were taken out by her students (even though only 4 of us entered), we couldn’t believe it we were screaming all over the place haha!

Thanks guys – I’ll be the first to say my routine in no way was the most advanced there – that was why I was so surprised when they announced my name. We asked the judges afterwards and they said at the end of the day I was the most entertaining apparently. Personally I only wanted to do the moves I knew I could do well, and the advanced category was the only one that let you do the shouldermount https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
The next big comp is in May (Dee??? Trena??? If I can do it so can you!) so hopefully by then i’ll have the ol TG/ handspring/ similar advanced moves tied down.
Maddie I got the outfit from intrigue boutique (online uk shop), it looked a lot bigger in the photo then I got it and I was like, ‘where’s the rest of it??’ haha! I had to get an extra pair of shorties to go underneath https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif

The poles were incredibly slippy! Arlo was up after you and had the right idea – she cleaned both poles herself before starting her routine!May is the Irish Pole Championship in Fusion in Drogheda – usually about 600 people crammed in and on an x stage https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif There is the Irish Pole Unity in March which is a show rather than a comp – you should defo come to that!

I’m currently processing vids of you all.. compressin’ em.. flippin’ ’em 90 degrees, compressin’ ’em again!!! They are just gigonormous!! Soon as it’s done.. I’ll throw them up in a secret location online.. then ye all can grab ’em and do to them what you like!
Hey, you can see me in Polegrrrls’ vid sitting down on the ground near the pole with the bright orange jumper and the little camera held high (god my arm was aching after all the routines!) I also had to hold a slaved flash bulb for a photographer who was on the opposite side of the room to me!!! As for competition entering.. god no!! I start hyperventilating even thinking of putting up a video on here.. That is SO refreshing to hear! It’s not about breaking your back to get into a move but about how good you do what you do and how enteraining you are! That’s great.
