im new to here and pole dancing
hi my name is christie im 22 years old i live in michigan. I am very new to pole dancing, im a thick built girl with no dancing or fitness background. I joined this site to not only make new friends who do the same thing as i do but to learn more about the art of pole dancing….

Welcome fellow midwesterner! I live in chicago. I am also on the "thicker" side so I always get excited when curvy girls get into pole dancing. I also had no professional dance or fitness background…I belly dance for fun but stopped taking lessons ages ago so I started with a clean slate. You will build up strength SUPER fast…I am the strongest I’ve ever been and barely had to lift any weights to get this way. Come by chat on Fridays so we can all meet you!

We all get exciting when curvy girls come to poling! Glitter is right! You will build strength fast. Glitter is super strong and she is a phenomenal dancer!!! She has been a real inspiration to me and many others. Glitterhips is a face the represents the average everyday woman. She is unique, dedicated, and determined. She truly proves that anyone of any shape and size can excel at pole dance and anything at all really if one puts their mind to it. She totally has my admiration and respect and we love to see her at work!!!!

Hello all! I started taking classes in April but unfortunately out-grew my instruction within about 3 months and now I am learning from home via you-tube and now this site. I miss having someone to dance with so this site is a God-send. There are a few people I recognize here from youtube and am so glad that my youtube pole-family is also here! Forgive me if I don’t respond right away as I am learning how to use the site. I would love any tips or tricks and am very open to advice and opinions. =] Happy poling!

Ive bought a pole finaly got it up, but ive only poled three four times for the first time in my life! Im a mommy of a few to say the least i have no fitness or dance background but iv made a start! I just logged on to my profile and it appears that i’ve been a member of SV for 53 days. I have loved the support of the people here. I have only been poling since september 2009, and there is always so much more to learn. But this is my first time on the forum (on any forum really), just wanted to say hello, and thanks for the support so far x
Everyone here has been so supportive but that is not always the case where i live. (Not in my house of course.) I am proud of my pole dancing and (though i’m still not good) the abilities i have developed in such a short amount of time. However, i find that there is still a stigma attached to the sport. People have dismissed and ridiculed it. You know what i hate? I hate it when it’s referred to as lap dancing. Can people not see the distinction.
I think my husband thought along the same lines when I told him i was getting a pole. He still hasn’t seen me use it yet. It makes me smile sometimes to think of his expression if he actually saw how unsexy it is when your sweating and frustrated because you just can’t nail a move.
