November Challenge
Posted by Veena on November 3, 2009 at 8:39 pmLooks like the USPDF suggestion is a popular one so lets give it a go!! The Challenge for November is perform a 90 or 60 second dance with these elements in the performance.
PRO
90 sec.
2 spins
20 seconds of floor work
1 thigh hold (held for 3 sec)
1 pose (held for 3 sec)
1 invert (held for 3 sec)
1 split (held for 3 sec)AMATEUR
60 sec.
1 half spin
1 spin
10 seconds of floor work
1 pole sit (held for 3 sec)

By "poses" do you mean ones that are done up on the pole after climbing, or can they be on the floor, or whatever? Or maybe a beginning pose, to start your dance off with?

I would say a pose is done from on the ground….but thats just me, anyone else have any thoughts on this? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif if it were up on the pole I would call it a hold.

I think I understand the rest of the requirements, but I’m not sure about "thigh hold" –> I can only think of teddy, inverted teddy & inverted pike. I’m sure there are others I’m missing, but is that the hold you are talking about?

I agree with Veena, a pose can be any position on the ground. Up the pole it would be considered a hold.
part of the challenge is to fit all the elements in a set amount of time so I think it’s more fun if we stick to the time limits. Of course if you want to post a longer video as well, we would all love to see it!
A thigh hold, according to the USPDF standards, is any position where both thighs are the main thing keeping you on the pole, ie: a simple layout, a cross ankle or knee release, superman, etc.

Floorwork is meant to be 20 seconds continuous. It’s hard to count 20 seconds if you break it up anyhow!

hum still not sure 90 sec vid, only 3 second holds is that the minium? it takes me more than 3 secs to just get in a vert. can it be longer??? whole song?

Hey ladies, I was wondering…what are you doing for music? I can’t find any 1minute songs that are any good…would you say I should just take a chunk of music and stick it in? I’m kind of a fan of everything fitting together, so it’s a bit of a challenge for me!

Hey, island girl! I’m just going to use a part of a song that doesn’t have prominent lyrics, preferably with a 1.5 min. section with no words. Right now I’m thinking of "Sway" by Shreikback or something similar.

1 do you have to do the list in order?
2 can the spins be combo spins?
3 is the invert suppouse to be like go directly into an inverted pose and hold for 3 secs and come down or can you do like crucifix to scorp hold than do maybe geemini before coming down?

heh heres my assumption for the rules:
no it doesnt have to be in that order, its a dance but putting ur knowledge and skill into so much time ^^
combo spin is still a spin =) tho id assume it would only count as one and you would have to do two spins some point in ur dance
an invert is an invert~ and again im assuming invert properly means no jumping/kicking into it? and how u get out of it is ur choice
and for splits.. i think they would only count if the were on the floor or against the pole? unless in a headstand if u can get it straight or oversplit? or cheat somehow;; LOL
doesnt hurt just to try =D i mean like she said its not a contest.. its a challenge =) who knows maybe get u ready for USPDF!

ooh how fun! although i can’t do the splits…does that mean i’m disqualified? Lol. But I’ve been stretching every day and I’m getting closer!
