I’ll pass on the advice my instructor gave me. Climb little by little, dont start engaging your shoulders to do your next pull up until you have your feet in place. We all found ‘sticky’ heels a great help with that when starting out. A pair of plastic upper/Patent heels really help you grip and regards hands slipping god bless ‘mighty grip’ and ‘dry hands’
If you still find you cant pull up and are sliding there are some great strength training exercises on this site. -
Great thread….
Heres my contribution, for this I got to explain Im a swimming instructor when Im not poling…
you may be a pole dancer (especially one who teaches swimming!) if….
You teach kids who are having trouble with the butterfly (the swim stroke, not the pole move!)by dragging them out the pool and showing them how to do a body wave against a wall, the way you do when you pole.
Your own butterfly has improved leaps and bounds since you started poling!
When the bruises are really bad you wear a full wetsuit even for 30min lessons because it saves embarasing questions from parents (‘you know I could give you a helpline number….’)
Youve considered poling in your wetsuit because think of the fabulous grip you would get all over!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
Your husband wants you to get a t-shirt saying ‘I’m not a battered wife – I’m a pole dancer’ so people dont give him dirty looks when you are together.
