Hello – first of all VERY cool that you are trying to set this up… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I know it’s a little late in the game to change the name…but it might go a long way to help getting some of the studios participate. I know most of the studios I go to in LA take the stance of welcoming all women into an environment where they feel safe and secure in a non competitive sort of way. Also I’m sure studios probably don’t want to be the ones that "lose". If you open it up a bit and try to make it a less competitive slant – more of a showcase it might make things easier. The competitions that are out there now are for individuals more so than studios and there is probably a reason for that. Just a thought…maybe you could do something like best choreographed piece, best free style, most original…and have enough categories that each studio would receive some sort of title… https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif

I have a reoccurring nightmare that I am dancing to El Tango de Roxanne and I start using jazz hands…I refuse to dance to that song because of it LOL…but love watching other dance to it…
I am always afraid of the Fosse factor when I dance https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif ***closest thing I could find to a jazz hands smiley lol

I find the mat classes don’t do nearly as much – but in general pilates is great for ab/core strength.

FYI…please note that just because you have someone sign a waiver it doesn’t actually negate their right to sue…they can still sue you https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

My SS Lil Mynx was way way way too slippery for me so i bought a black powder coated rotater and I love it…try warming up your pole space some if you can. Also all newer poles really do have a bit of a *break in* period.

I had each person send me the name of their song/band they wanted to include on the cd (i think most people sent 1-2) AND the word that best expressed what the song meant to them
…then I put together CD’s together for everyone who participated with all of the song choices but instead of listing bands/song titles it only had the words numbered and listed..so you basically got a secret santa type gift – GREAT FUN.
You ended up with a CD that said things like…
1) sultry
2) bitchy
3) Hot
4)sleepy
5) strongetc…it forced or enabled you to actually pick a song to dance to that a) might actually be new to you and b)just pick something to dance to from an emotion…it was mad fun!
I did actually compile the playlist info of the song/band titles and put it up on the forum a few weeks after everyone got their cd’s and I think at some point we uploaded most of it as an Itunes list so the people who didn’t participate could grab the list as well.
