You guys are lucky. I have an aweful time with my chrome finish. Does the temperature of the pole really make a difference? I had never heard of that before. I’ll have to check into it. Thanks!

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif OMG! I just found this thread and had to laugh because I am guilty of doing this very thing. I didn’t mean to film my kitten, but she was being so naughty and wouldn’t stop playing. I shoved her out of the room and she still came running back. It was something with my movement and seeing her reflection in the chrome. She still comes running when I start. But I guess I’m not the only one though. I’m going to have to find the other kitty pole videos that you all are talking about.

Oh, and perhaps it could be a pole dancer thing. I have found at least two people with user names that somehow reference cats.

I’m really glad this subject came up. I didn’t know much about finishes when I purchased my pole. I ended up getting a chrome X-pole because it was less expensive. Although I have to say my pole is very sturdy and of great quality overall, unfortunately, the chrome finish and I do NOT get along. It is very slippery and I need to do a lot of prep work on my skin before I can even begin dancing with it. Maybe it’s just my body chemistry? I’ve since tried different brands of poles in stainless and brass with no problems. I’m thinking of trading it in. You really need to "groove" with your pole. One of the biggest complaints I’ve heard about buying poles is that you can’t return them once they’ve been opened and used. That can pose a problem if you find the finish isn’t right for you (and an expensive one at that!). I would consider all the suggestions and recommendations you hear from everyone before you buy.

MemberDecember 4, 2009 at 1:18 pm in reply to: constant dull ache in my arms almost carpal tunnel feelingI had this problem when I first started doing inverts and more advanced spins and climbs. It was absolutely horrible. I would rest for a few days and take some Aleve before I danced. As my muscles gradually adjusted and grew stronger though, the pain went away and I don’t have the problem any longer.
