While its very frustrating I find that I benefit from a little time off to practice dancing instead of just tricks. I love when I can see progress in my movements and fluidity as well.

I’ve never tasted greek yogurt so I will have to give that a try. Will also buy stuff to make smoothies more often. I already consume a good amount of peanut butter at breakfast time :).
Hooked – I’m having some trouble getting my legs and tummy area in shape. It has been a challenge since having kids. Hoping to really see some results soon.

MemberApril 10, 2011 at 1:50 pm in reply to: don’t want to lose weight…nutrition help pleaseI am running on my treadmill 3 days a week but thinking of replacing one of those days with a zumba class. I want to burn fat and build muscle but keep my size. I’m already small but flabby in some areas. I’ve already lost 3 lbs and will keep losing unless I start eating more 🙁

Muffin85-my thighs are definitely my major problem area.

wow that sounds like an awesome exercise pinkbubbles. I'm about to go try it out now. On Saturdays I always do the legs and back p90x dvd which I love but I don't have that kind of time during the week. This week I've been waking up 30 min earlier and doing legs and abs instead of just abs. I'm starting out with three different excercises, 3 reps of about 12 each. I think my problem has been that I've never been able to do both cardio and strength training due to my schedule. Now I am doing cardio at night three times a week, and pole 3 times, plus I will keep waking up ealier in the mornings to do legs and abs. We'll see what happens…I come from a family of women with very flabby lower bodies so I'm sure its harder when you have to fight your genes LOL.

Thanks for that exercise megs. I will incorporate that to my workouts.
Cocoa_that sounds interesting. I have protein powders but don’t really like them. I made myself a serving last night and it was not tasty. I will try your recipe since I buy egg white cartons anyways for omlettes. -
Oops posted too fast…
Veena- I pole at least three days a week, cardio three days, and lower body (usually p90x legs dvd) once a week. My work schedule and kids require the rest of my time. I wish I could squeeze a little more into my time but life is hectic right now. Thanks for the responses ladies 🙂

Chem-the rest of my body is not super tight but def a lot more toned than my booty and legs. I don’t think I get enough protein at all. Maybe that’s one of my problems.

I have the same shoes bit in white. When I got them they were way too tight so I decided to go for the next size up. Now my toes hang out of the shoe 🙁
-
I’ve had the lessons before but only for a month at a time. Now I have a year to work on tricks at my own pace. Can’t wait to practice tonoght 🙂
-
Dustbunny – what is the name of the pole you have? I’m looking to buy a second pole and don’t want ti spend too much.
-
minicoopergrl- if I ididn't have a bruise I would think it was a tight muscle too but i do have a faint bruise in the area where its the most tender. Very odd.
Stoneycook – I just looked up IT band issues and it does sound like it might be it. Thanks for the stretches, I will start on those right away!
-
thanks chem! I looked into it when I got home last night and you’re right. I’m just going to wait until I can get an pole. Thanks again.
-
Thanks! Those are priced great! Lets see how my dear husband feels about permanent. Maybe I will have to go for the sport after all. That will take longerto save up for 🙁
-
The sport is still a bit more than what we want to spend unless I can find one used.
Thanks for the lil mynx suggestion, I will look into those. -
Oh my…..sorry for all the typos, I’m posting from my phone.

My advice is to take it easy. I hurt my back while inverting at the studio where I take classes and that set me back big time. It took almost 6 months to heal so I ended up taking longer to learn how to invert properly. I have been poling for 15 months and can now do a controlled basic invert. Some ladies can do it sooner and some take longer. Don’t push too hard. The lessons here are perfect for gaining strength so if u have them try to go in order and u will get there.

MemberFebruary 26, 2011 at 2:50 pm in reply to: what is your favorite song to pole dance to?Thanks ladies, I'm off to itunes now to sample the songs you guys have mentioned.
Amaranth – I have yet to put together a choreography to ANY song : p. Its easier for me to improvise as I go. I think its because I don't know any song really well since I listen and dance to so many different types of music.
I do love Down on me by jeremih but I'm trying to see what else i can find : )

I ordered Volume two and only needed 3 or 4 moves to be able to do them all. Depending on what you can already do maybe you can go Vol 3 and up.
-
I had that problem all the time, you just have to keep practicing and concentrating on pointing your toes and extending your legs. Congrats on the pole sit, I could not sit on my pole for months so it sounds like you're making great progress : )
-
Thanks for the sizing advice. When I first ordered it was a size 6 but exchanged them for a 7 because they were so tight. I may stick to a 6 this time and see if they stretch out enough.
The gripping issue is something that happens without me trying, my ankle just happens to land there and I hate that it pulls the strap. I prefer skin contact thas why I thought of giving the slides a shot. I’m scared though lol -

MemberFebruary 17, 2011 at 11:14 am in reply to: how to excuse your hubby from your pole sessionsI am a little shy about dancing around my hubby so I dont like him lurking when I practice (he tries every time!!!). So….I dont get much practice on Mondays or Tuesday because he is home early. I leave pole for wednesdays through saturday and I take one class at the studio on Mondays : ). I have danced for him 3 times already and keep explaining that if he watches me all the time it will get boring. I think he is starting to understand now but it has been a work in process.
