Rouge_Lamour – did you find that the exercise from Jamilla helped? I tried doing it last night and it feels really weird. I will definitely keep trying it if it will help with the inverted V. This is the one move that I have not been able to achieve consistently.
A few months ago I almost got it and then my back started hurting again. To me that is a sign that I may not be strong enough yet so I want to keep doing conditioning exercises for a bit longer before I go at it again.
I do try it a few times at the start of every practice and I feel like it keeps getting better but i'm never able to hold it.
Good luck everyone : )

I have both. Studio lessons can get pricey and time consuming (full time job and kids make it difficult to drive to the studio consistently.) So…I purchased veena’s year long membership and still go to a studio 3 or 4 times a month. I love this site but its also amazing to take a pole class with other people.

I did some new exercises but they didn’t seem that hard. I did legs and back from p90x and then some of veenas ab and upper body exercises. I can barely walk now, everything hurts, even more now than this morning. Ugh… I did stretch earlier and will stretch lightly again before going to bed. Hopefully I will wake up better tomorrow.

thanks for the video and the link! I probably will wait for hubby to help me tomorrow so that I don’t end up setting up the mount in the wrong area. I’m very excited and eager to have it up already.

Mine has the rubber feet but I thought that was only good for carpet.. The screw is about two inches on mine as well. Has yours given you any trouble at all? I don’t have instructions since I got it used.

The screw seems a little short yikes

Thanks ladies. I’ve decided to go for the lil mynx. I really don’t like taking the xpole down and neither does hubby. Maybe the lil mynx will be easier for him : ). Going to pick it up today. So exciting!

Really? I have a hard time taking my x-pert down. The garage is going to be turned into an entertainment room for the kids so I would have to take down the pole on the weekends so that they can have a clear view of the tv. I’ve never had a lil lynx but it sounds like it might be easier because of the permanent ceiling mount. I’m torn….

Sorry for the double post. I hit submit by mistake the first time : )

X-pole or lil mynx? I am eyeing one of each on craigslist but I can’t decide on which one to get. I already have an x-pole that I never take down but this second pole is for the

Is it the petite or the 50mm?

I have been wanting to post my opinion on this and just haven’t had the chance but now I just had to after reading ur latest post. This will hopefully make u feel better. If ur man was not happy about u pole dancing from the start it will take a while for him to warm up to it. He most likely feels like pole dancing takes u one step closer to being labeled as a stripper and does not like the idea. My man was the other way around. Happy at first since hour thought it would be only for him,but as soin as he realized that this is something that I am doing for myself he started acting weird about it. I guess he was used to getting all my free time and now this has changed. I also feel like men become a little insecure when we do something sexy just for us. I wouldn’t worry about him being distracted bu something or someone else and not paying attention to u. He may just be hoping that u will give up on the idea and move away from something that is associated with strip clubs. Stick with it and offer to show him a dance when u feel ready. Don’t expect him to ask if he wasn’t in board to begin with. When u do dance for him its best to give him a lot of attention. No big tricks since men are not always wowed by them. Hang in there and stick to doing what u love. He will come around. Sorry for mispelling and punctuation issues. I’m typing from my phone and in a hurry 🙂

I came home and tried it but nothing. My pole was slippery today though so I will try again when its more grippy. it did feel better from a basic invert though so at least I know that it will be easier than from a caterpillar. Thanks ladies! I will update when I try again.

Yay! How exciting!! I got my powder coated lil mynx today so I’m super excited too. Can’t wait to start practicing in my garage again : )

Bace- I went to the website and it looks like something I might enjoy trying. Thanks for the link.

We don't have to perform for anyone other than whoever is taking the class. The instructors require for us to have mastered the tricks in order to move up to the next level but some exceptions are made. I know of one more person that was allowed to move up because she was clearly strong enough to do the inverted v but still could not do it. I think for both of us it is a technique issue. Maybe something that we learned wrong and now its difficult to break the bad habit. Who knows….
Ha! I deviated from telling you about the studio and my level…..So we do learn a routine in every level and this is something that I love because we get to work on transitions and floorwork as well as tricks. I am in Advanced 1 right now but it sounds like it would be like an Intermediate 3 at your studio. I'm sure different studios have different goals for each of their levels so its hard to compare.

MemberMay 24, 2011 at 7:42 am in reply to: Getting to a point where I wonder if I’ll ever get this moveI would have to quit the studio if they made me repeat all this time. I started in 1 in june of last year so it would be a almost a whole year in the same level. I can do more advanced moves now and have noticed that its easier to hold the v once I get there (from a basic invert). Hopefully it will happen soon for both of us.
